 Fish vs Pterosaur
« Thread Started on Mar 10, 2012, 8:55pm »

I know fossils have been found of fish trying to eat pterosaurs before, but these are some of the best photos I've seen of such a find! :o The article's content is not the best though.

Has this been known about for a while? There is an illustration of exactly that in my pterosaur book.

This is awesome! Do we know if the attack happened while the pterosaur was still living, though?

I don't know if it was this particular fossil or not but one was found where the pterosaur had a fish in it's throat meaning it was likely caught by a fish while catching a fish.

The article said they think the fish made a grab for the pterosaur and the fibers in the wing got caught in it's closely packed teeth. They guess that the fish thrashed about until tired and sank into the oxygen poor level of the lake where it suffocated.

This paper - http://www.plosone.org/article/info%3Adoi%2F10.1371%2Fjournal.pone.0031945 says it was found in the Solnhofen Limestone in 2009.
