^ It was more massive though, wasn't it? It was like 30 feet long, and the mosasaur was like 40 right? (don't shoot me if I'm a few feet off) And mosasaurs are long and serpentine, so if there was a mosasaur that was heavier than a liopleurodon, I'd really be shocked..

Yeah Cordy, on the whole a Lio was a much more robust beast overall.
Nah Kuni, I think I first got the monstrous Lio impression from a Dino comic book I had during the early 90's where one terrorizes a group of pregnant Ichthys. Although, to be sure, WWD certainly didn't help clear up any size discrepancies.

Thought so...
I'm glad somebody is finally making an accurate pliosaur... And the good news is, it probably won't be pulled for another few years, unlike the WwD's which were pulled after only a couple years
RIP SPUNKY June 26, 2009 - May 11, 2010 I still love you little spunk man!

Ah shucks, but no pics yet! Yeah, those prices sound about right to me too. Although, Link & Pin are usually a little higher than others. So, keep an eye on TGFToys. There's should even be a little less!
*Question... Since I've never purchased any of their Tube animals before, how big are they usually? They're probably bigger than Kaiyodos, right?

I've only just gotten around to catching up on this thread as the releases seem so far away
Some nice choices there for 2010 then . Some must have figures there for sure.
Tis rather telling that nobody has bashed Safari yet for retreading the Apato, Brachi and Lio. My hypocracy scanner just blew
Can someone remind Safari that the colour scheme for Lios is copyrighted to BBC Worldwide and they will need to pay a £20,000 fee before releasing it ................... or at least come up with something original. They should ask Kevin for some ideas
It's nice to see that they're finally catching up with Invicta though ...... bless em And only a year behind Schleich's Apato, a long way behind Schleich's Brachi and Oh, 10 years or so behind the original WWD Lio.
I do love their figures honestly. I just find their marketing strategy rather crass and cynical. They really need to drop that barely masked schoolyard competition thing they have going with European manufacturers as it's really none too appealing.
I'd much rather they dropped the Apato, Brachi and Lio and made some of the tube figures in a decent size ............... unless it's a tester for things to come (in which case everybody else take note and play them at their own daft game )

Maybe, but he is right, pretty much. Carnegie has one apato, WS one, and Galaxy one. Now, we get another. I will alway welcome a sauropod from them, but it is a serious retread.....as for the liop, we really need for a company to not just break, but shatter that color mould.....

Happy to see that the new Carnegie figures won't break the bank! I'm looking forward to that Cryolophosaurus. I guess in a way it's a shame that they are rehashing some old models and those already done by other companies, but the results with the Spinosaurus and Diplodocus they did last year were goregeous.
Until Procon came along, I think the Carnegie line had the 'new, weird dinosaur' niche pretty well locked up. Critters like Beipaiosaurus, Caudipteryx, and Microraptor are still being gawked at for their unfamiliarity amongst not-obcessed-but-still-interested dinosaur fans, and they got a great figures to help make them household names. Going with the classics seems like backtracking, in my opinion.

They've never done a liopleurodon before. They did a kronosaurus, and that was terrible. This new liopleurodon will most likely be absolutely fantastic, 'specially if DTF himself helped with it.
And I don't think anybody minds the new brachi and apato, because, well... They're great. That brachiosaurus must be the most accurate ever, and it also looks very "alive", moreso than their old brachi. And the new apato looks great too. It looks very realistic and it is based on some recent scientific papers (it seems...) and they even got the feet right! I think that's why nobody minds the re-dos

I'm all for putting out models of lesser known species. However, I also think that the well known ones need to be well represented. Their sauropods were in need of a facelift. I think WS did a good job mixing the animals that the general public may not be familiar with (kentrosaurus and most of the critters in the toob) with some old friends like brachi and apato.

You think? Isn't that always the case? When it comes to Safari, its sing the song of praise and jubilation! LOL! Just look at what happened to the Safari 2010 thread, that turned nasty really quick! Anyway, I do love the new Brachi and marine reptiles. I will have to have my Liopleurodon sent to Adam for him t o sign when I get it! The apato, hmmm, still like it but reminds me so much of_____ 2009 cetio Hope you feel better soon!

That's generally because mostly everything put out by safari for the past few years has been awesome-- The same can't be said for schleich, procon, bully etc. I think that's why safari is so "praised", boki
But you do have a good idea-- I think I'll buy two and send one to adam, so he can sign the tag

Yah, Adam will have to sign all of our Liop when it hits the market! The last few release? as in last 2 years? Sure, no doubt about that. But overall, Safari never gets the same kind of you know what that others do
