So here is a weird thing that I learned today. Apparently, Tony Beeson very recently split from CollectA--so recently, that he is still in their 2010 catalogues. And this is why Endless Games has ceased to carry the CollectA line in the US--they are sticking with Tony, who is creating his own line, apparently, called Mojo So maybe we'll see another, awesome line appear. It will be interesting to see what the figures from CollectA look like without Tony's input. Maybe that is why the mysterious Rhomalaeosaurus remains without pictures--or even any record in the release info for 2010 that I received.

So now procons will be complete chinasaurs?
Will the Rhomaleosaurus even be produced now?

Considering Procon has been hit and miss with his input...I'd say they are heading for much more miss. Did he suggest all the species ? If so then they will prob keep to more popular ones...start making more business decesions and less collector oriented ones I would guess. The Rhomaleo will prob be released..I've understood it's done, just awaiting pics for some reason. Maybe the color matched another company's similar piece ?

I am assuming that CollectA is going to continue without Tony. In terms of quality, given that some people dislike them anyway, it won't matter, but I highly doubt that he is taking sculptors with him--so the same sculptors they have now will probably still be working. In other words, people that appreciate them will continue to dos so, people that don't will continue to pretend they can find better figures of unusual animals. The choices of dinos will probably be the real test--it is actually a Chinese company with a UK base, but the UK is out now. So we might see a lot less British influences on the choices.
As for the Rhomalaeosaurus--there is only one site that claims its existence, Link & Pin Hobbies (this forum is the only other hit for a search). The Canadian distributor has a huge list of the 2010 offerings, and it isn't there. It also isn't in his 2010 small catalogue. So if it is coming, they are really trying not to sell it.

Breaking news: CollectA has hired Jack Horner for it's next palaeontological advisor.
Joke... Didn't anyone think that was funny?

Oh, and what dinosaurs will be in TB's new line? Nothing good will come out of it, name like 'Mojo'...

I think Dan mentioned it was still coming, just waiting to be ready for pics. I am assuming that CollectA is going to continue without Tony. I think Dan mentioned it was still coming, just waiting to be ready for pics. Like I said, nobody else has heard of it, or seen it--and I have seen my distributor's list, with photos of every (other) upcoming figure from CollectA, including their rather odd Greek Myth figures. Oh, and what dinosaurs will be in TB's new line? Nothing good will come out of it, name like 'Mojo'... Well, he is British--maybe he's trying to capture the public's enduring fascination with all things Austin Powers ? Or more likely, maybe he's not much of a business genius. so.....whos Tony Beeson? Help us less informed folks out! He`s an artist and paleo collector from the UK that, after their first 6 uninspiring dinos, somehow got together with Procon to guide them into being a collector`s company. I don`t really know what influence he had--it might have been dino choice, or it might have been down to the final details of the sculpts.

And now a double post--ever been fed up with the Collecta.biz website? Of course, it sucks. But this one, out of Australia, is much better: www.rpaust.com.au/collecta/collecta.php?d=PrehistoricAnd worthy of note--no Rhomalaeosaurus. I for one am disappointed, but on the other hand, maybe it will be a surprise for late 2010/early 2011.

I'll keep sticking to japan for my unusual species You might want to hold your breath for a while--I don't think Herrerasaurus or Rugops are on their to-do list.

Honestly a dozen names could be applied to either of those figures, I can hold off for a while.

Honestly a dozen names could be applied to either of those figures, I can hold off for a while. Know what? Based on that, you may as well save your money and not bother with PT magazine. Judging from the reviews in there, Safari and Procon are considered complimentary for collectors--both are popular and sought after by the collectors in the magazine, and the species they produce work well together. Collectors that don't see the value in both are just missing out for whatever reason. But I suppose it's your loss, and the loss of all the other people that dismiss CollectA because, hey, have to dislike one of the companies. Fact is, most of the dismissal is based on their early, rough attempts; the new CollectA figures stand up (literally) against many of the best out there now--and they've only been around 5 years. And yet, you want their Rhomalaeosaurus. But only because it is unlikely anyone else will do one, just like most of CollectA's choices. So make up your mind. Besides, for the rest of us, it may mean there is a new company (with the stupid name of Mojo?) to consider--and we'll figure out how the sculpting/choices were being made, and follow the most interesting of them.

I do like some of them. I just dislike their saurischians. The sauropods, theropods. They can all be done better really. I'd just rather have no (insert species here) on my shelf than a bad representation of one. I want pictures of the rhomaleosaurus. If it's good, I'll get it- I like good marine reptile figures in general. They could make a good plesiosaurus and I'd get it- it doesn't matter that I have a bunch of Plesiosaurus already, I just like good marine reptile figures. Considering how tony was the main science-y guy with procon maybe this "Mojo" (pronouced moho maybe?) line will be better than the prehistoric animals procon has released.

Some of their older saurischians leave much to be desired--but judging from the pictures I've seen of this year's theropods, they seem to have improved. And I'm really not sure if Tony was a science advisor, or an art advisor, or both. I suppose 2011 might answer that question.

I'm interested to see how this affects CollectA. Hopefully their recent improvements weren't entirely Beeson's doing, otherwise down the slippery slope of quality they go.
And, like everyone else, I want to see this Rhomaleosaurus.
I like Rhomaleosaurus.

So next year we can expect either total junk or total awesomeness ;D

Are they still on schedule at least for the whole 2010 releases? Well. it would be interesting to see what his new company would look like. As far as I know, Tony was the "adviser" for the first few figures, then I think he started designing them, too. I believe he designed a few of the 2009 figures, most notably the scelidosaurus. It would be interesting to know what 2010 figures he designed. I think everyone already knows what my opinion is as far as CollectA, so I will refrain from adding more other than I agree with Sbell's comments 100%.
