The one critique I have of it is that of the three "large" coelacanth replicas shown nicely together here, the Kaiyodo Aqualand model is the one that has the most unrealistic splotchy spots.
The actual species, all real live coelacanths have smaller, more defined spots.

I wondered about that--the spots seem so 'regular' on the Aqualand one. I think the big Colorata may be the closest.

I agree on the spots. Being hand-painted, it seems that the spots are variable. I have seen pictures of other Aqualand Coelacanth when I was researching the figures and seen some with hardly any spots, while others have much smaller ones! Kinda weird not to have consistency, but oh well. If it was't such a rare find I would repaint it

Assuming a 1.80m length (~71") a coelacanth at 1:40 would be about 4.5cm (1.8") long.
This means that you would be looking at ones like the smaller Epoch, Aquatales, the Takara ones (although most might be a little big at 1/40). The FameMaster (the one with the Plesiosaurus) might be the closest.
