I don't plan to see the new LOTL movie. Here is the reason, as posted on LOTL.com:
I found this somewhere and had to comment. it's been a long time since I've been on this board, and I've had to add a "1" to my username. but is my opinion about the Will ferral LOTL spoof, which I will NOT be seeing. Oh, here is the quote first:
Quote: Did I love Land of the Lost as a child? Yes. Was it the cheesiest and campiest thing ever? Pretty much. Would I want to see that version of LOTL on the big screen? NO. You can’t do this movie any other way than a raunchy comedy WILL FERRELL
Now wait on a second--The special effects were cheesy and campy, NOT the story lines (discounting season three, of course). The stories are what made LOTL the most innovation science fiction series in the hisotry of children's programing. All they would ahve to do to make it appeal today would be to scrap the cheesy effects for cutting edge. And keep the mind-bending plots.
Think, will a spoof have any of the plots about time doorways, paradoxes, etc.? Will the hsiotry of Altrusia finally get fully explored as it shoudl, if this is a comedy? The answer is obvious--NO. The ironic thing is the special effects will be updated, so that it no longer looks painfully cheesy. But since it is a comedy, what really made the series outstanding will be totally scrapped. This movie will be a total waste.
They did it with Space Ghost. Looks like LOTL is next.
I'll have to agree on that one... I've never been a fan of movies that are "self referential" and "wink to the audience, knowing how ridiculous it all is" as those stuffy movie critic say If "The Dark Knight" can take the idea of a guy who dresses up in a bat costume protecting a city called "Gotham" from a guy who dresses up as a clown seriously, then anything can be made well!

It was said you didn't mind tossing logic out the window...heh heh
I've seen one or two episodes of the orig series and more of the 90's version but not enough to remember it all well...to me the trailor looked fun...nothing to take seriously though. Think of it this way..maybe the film will bring some new blood to the franchise...it made me recall the previous series fondly enough.

.
You should see how far I toss logic away in that "This or That meets Jurassic Fight Club" thread. I've turned the scenarios into "Jurassic Park" meets "Crank" meets wrestling

After seeing the "super bowl" trailer for the LOTL movie, I thought maybe it WOULDN'T be so bad. it might be good in a differnt way--it had sort of the feel of a Harryhausen flick, more then LOTL, with the giant crab and all. I thought, maybe it wouldn't be much more of a codey than last summer's Journey to the Center of the earth was. But after seeing the regular trailer, it's pretty obvious it's a spoof.

I haven't seen new Journey yet..the T-Rex did look nice ...but it was 3D film and as a general rule most aren't good..been waiting for a film to come along and break the mold..besides the Dino films IMAX shows.
I'll go see it..just for some big screen dinos..same thing for Ice Age: 3 ...both will have more humor than anything else I'm sure.

The "t-rex" in the new Journey is actully a giganotosaurus--an albino giganotosaurus. I assumed it was a t-rex myself, until I read a paprerback tie-in about the movie.

You really needn't bother. I put it square on the level of the really bad Sci=Fi Channel originals. Just.....eww. And, for my money, Doctor Who was, and still is, the most innovative children's sci-fi show ever. Don't forget, it was originally scheduled for and aimed at the kids. I have never seen the 90's version of Land of the Lost. I have only vague memories of the original, but as a kid, all I wanted was the most dino bang for my buck, the rest of it bored my terribly.Just dinos running around eating things. That is all one needs, right??

Then any Jurassic Park film would do well for you eh ?
The thing is, any film with Dinosaurs in it is going to be better than the films without any ( I watched Last Action Hero because it had a dino on the poster art ..lol ) at least to me...even a bad film I make fun of and laugh at with friends..so it turns out to be enjoyable.
Besides I can go rent it from the Redbox for only a 1.00 so it's not a HUGE waste if it isn't that good.

Whatever the print media calls it, it is not a giga, it only has two fingers on its hands--ergo a tyrannosaur of some sort. A giga, would have had three. Just saying. I had to watch it with my family last night, and counting fingers is all I had to keep me awake.....
