Thae idea of prehistoric animals as plushes is great and overdue! Sweet! I especially enjoy the Pikaia! Richard Fortey would enjoy one of the trilobites, I´m sure ;D

These creatures in particular have such ideal shapes for plushies too. Better suited than dinosaurs, I think.

I've seen some of these before and they're SO cool! Does anyone know of any way you could buy them in the US? Screw couch pillows, these would be even better. Especially that huge Anomalocaris

Here is store with decent prices for them::: www.hakuhinkan.jp/07/4932719004917.htmlI think they're all there, too. As far as ordering them, there are a variety of japanese bidding/buying services offered online. I personally like celga.com. It's pricey though, all these services charge a per-item fee (usually around $5-20 bucks - scaled by item price), then money transfer fee (about $2), then shipping within japan, then shipping to you. The cheapest way to get a bunch is to find a group of them for sale on yahoo japan (shopping.yahoo.co.jp) , yahoo auctions japan (auctions.yahoo.co.jp), or bidders.co.jp.. this way you only pay a single item fee, single shipping within japan, etc. A good way to translate prehistoric names is to look up the critter on wikipedia in english, then look click the japanese language link on the left toolbar (it's in ganji [“ú–{Œê ], but you can always look at the link path at the bottom of your browser to make sure the link points to "ja.wikipedia.org"). Then you just copy the title header and paste it in the search fields.

There are plenty of adults who have no idea of these creatures! If children learn by playing from a low age,the new generations will be a lot more educated!

We have WAY too many different threads about these things. But they are cute. But not the Pikaia. That thing jsut looks demented. Not meaning to offend people with actual dementia.
