The new Quetzalcoatlus is definitely an improvement! The head looks much more detailed and the face is expressive. The wings look a little too short to me though... maybe it's just the angle the picture is taken from.

As i already said, the Brontosaurus and the Quetzalcoatlus (despite the long legs, but maybe it's just the pic) are really good models...The Saichania,on the other hand,is inferior to the old version
Mr. negative? I speak the truth. They could all be much better, and like I said in the other thread, I am not supporting shcleich next year.
Schliech just basically bought out an entire toy store near me- they are not ordering any more papos and safaris, ONLY schliech. I have decided to not support that store either.

That does seem to happen. The places I used to get Safaris at dried up, but they still stock Schleich. I'm not sure if Safari's distribution problems are Scleich's fault, but it sucks either way.

The only place to get dino toys here still carries some carnegie, but mostly a ton of Papo right now. I have not been able to find the larger Schleichs anywhere in a store, or even most of the smaller ones. I'd love to pick up that jr allo, but no hope of thet here, I guess.

well detail wise it is a step up, as far as the current scientific view on dinosaurs they managed to take us back to the 50's. they are very retro design models but not bad the, the quetz is just awful though missing the last two bones on the wing it looks like to me good paint bad sculpt.

Nope, both Target and TRU have the schleich farm animals and a couple of dino box sets. They do not even have spots with tags for the separate dinos. They used to have at least the jr line, but not for years now. It is 88very** tough to get dinos here, which is why I resorted to buying on line, which led me to you guys

I have no feelings one way or the other regarding all of the issues brought up about the two sets of toys posted here-no loyalties or ill feelings. But- Aestetically I like the newer apatosaurus over the old one( looks like a better pose and better details), I prefer the old quetzal over the new one( the new one just looks akward-and the paint job doesn't work together as a whole, although I do like the read on the face- put the red on the first one and there you have it), and like the newer saichania over the old one(the old one just looks wimpy -weak, the new one looks more solid, more formidable). so two out of three- just an opinion. I do find it weird that thye wouldn't just move on and do some different species if this is all they are putting out this year, instead of revisiting past sculpts.

Wow, Schleich sure has been shooting itself in the foot as far as Replica-Saurus goes. I can't believe we're in for another year of crappy rehashes! Has there been a management change or what? None of these hold any interest for me, which is a shame because I've been a Schleich fan for years now. That Quetzalcoatlus looks like it's had its wings clipped! I just got the old Saichania for Christmas and I'm glad I did, because that new one looks terrible with those huge eyes and static pose. The old one is so dynamic by comparison, it actually looks like a living animal instead of a statue. Bad call, Schleich, bad call.

Yeah, there was a management change last year(?). They decided to cut back on the line and to retire and release 3 figs each year. Maybe the rehashing is also a product of this.

I agree with you on this. Schleich seems to be trying to monopolize the market by asking retailers to only stock their figures. They seems to be making deals with all the big stores like TRU, Target, Fred Myers to only stock only Scheich. As a result, none of the big chains carry anything other than their figures. It is harder and harder to find Safari, Papo, and bullyland figures. it is only the small independent toy stores ( and they are all endangered of going extinct) that you can still find the likes of Safari and Papo I am not a supporter of monopolizing the market. I believe in diversity and healthy competition. What is the point of collecting dinosaur figures ( or any figures for that matter) if you only have one or two company to choose from? Yah, I am starting to resent Schleichs' marketing tactics....
