Did you decide what kind of flesh-out look you were going with ? I noticed that the Kabaya Seismosaur has the more sunken neck muscles and seems pretty popular...there maybe something to that.

Just what I thought, Malcolm, knew you were under deadlines at work. Just thought I'd bump up this thread for some new input. Maybe you could post a pic of the Colossal Squid when you've finished it (if you're allowed). Would love to see it!
Blade, I like that "sunken neck muscles" look too. And, they do seem to be popular in the nicer sculpts too, like in Araki's. Just so it doesn't get too anorexic looking. I like my sauropods full-figured, lol!

It's just different from Carnegie's new Diplo or like the Invicta pieces...they pretty much have full , fat necks...maybe these are more muscular...?

Hey Dinonikes - You can definitely put me down for one Supersaurus when its done. It might even fit in with my 1/35 collection. I'd like a Sauropod for that one.

Question: How long and wide is the body of the sculpt (minus the tail and neck)??
|
|
|
Post by dinonikes on May 26, 2009 0:31:18 GMT
The body is approx. 5 1/2 inches in length- and approx. 2 1/2 inches wide - the overall length is 33 inches

So I hear this guy will be virtually indestructible? So a fall on a wood floor wouldn't shatter his tail?

So I hear this guy will be virtually indestructible? So a fall on a wood floor wouldn't shatter his tail? I plan on using chopped fiberglass in the tail- it may crack, but it wouldn't shatter- the fibers would hold it all together- virtually indestructible doesn't mean indestructible-

It's not diamond CT....heh heh... ;D
A gentle knock or tumble over on level ground wouldn' t do much..if your going to have an figure up high and your afraid of damage there are a couple things you can do.
1) make sure the shelf or table it's sitting on can handle the weight of the piece...most bought shelves will have an estimated weight on them.
2) be sure the shelf, counter, case, ect.. is secure to the wall or floor... finding a stud i nthe wall will be what you need to secure it to.
3) If possible keep the fragile pieces in a low traffic area... no or very few pets, children or nosey adults who can't help but touch things or feel they have the right to.
There are actually earthquake proof shelving...if you really want to go that far...I've heard of them before..an internet search would prob turn up something.
Hope that helps.

No problem, forgot to mention you can also apply a bit of tacky putty to a figure's feet or base to help a bit as well...

Looks great! I'm more interested in the gigantic fish, but this guy looks super cool. I'm sure sauropod fans are thrilled!
