Saw this oddity on Ebay - its listed as an Invicta figure, but I've never seen such a colour scheme before. Anybody know anything about this?

I did so after your prompting - it was cheap anyway so I've nothing to lose.
Could it be a prototype?

honestly my guess is that it would be someone's attempt at making a resin cast. It would be relatively easy to do with such an undetailed model as the invicta plesiosaur. I'd be curious to hear about any markings when you get it. Also if you win you should ask the seller how he/she got it.

I just discovered that "it was bought on a trip to the london museum of history many years ago." So it's not a cast.
I never knew Invicta produced a third style of figure.

You see, I'm somewhat slow, but now I remember that some of the coloured ones (I mean the official ones) are transparent underneath the paint. One of my battle-damaged Baryonyx testifies that

Maybe this is a paint-peeled version then? maybe it was played with in a very hot bath... I will find out soon enough...

This unusual Plesiosaur is a really nice piece. I just imagine an unpainted Invicta Mamenchisaurus... sigh... If there was one, I´d buy it immediately. Be proud you´ve got that plesiosaur!

I'm not - I think it's just the painted version with the paint peeled off - too much bath play perhaps? But it still looks cool. There is an unpainted Mamenchisaurus by the way.

Weren't?aren't the painted ones a pliable rubber? The plastic ones a solid blue plastic? I have one in hard plastic (and a hard plastic Icthyosaur) that lost a fluke and the broken spot is not that clear plastic in this model. This is very very odd.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It seems we got each other wrong. With `"unpainted" I meant a transparent one such as the "glass" - Plesiosaurus. This one´s a formerly painted one with colours off. I thought you had got a Mamenchisaurus with the same style. The unpainted one I own for me is actually a painted one, for it at least does have a colour. Ah, well, I think I´ll go to bed again - headache and confused

The monocolour figures are made up of coloured plastic, no paint on the surface, thats why I got confused ;D

Actually thats a really cool-looking Plesiosaur ! It would be neat to see a collection of Invictas done up in that same fashion.
