This may come as a bit of a surprise but it's a decision I have made out of necessity due to constraints that I won't go into. I'm delighted with the success of the forum, it's more than I could have asked for and the positive feedback I always receive is hugely rewarding. But, as much as I love it here (that's one of the problems!), I have decided out of necessity really, to step back and stand down as the administrator of the forum, at least for a while and probably for the foreseeable future.
Tomhet has kindly agreed to take the helm so I will shortly be passing over all administrative decisions and responsibilities to him. Thanks again Tomhet, I really appreciate it.
I will stay to see out the diorama contest and any ongoing administrative issues I'm involved in, but after that I'll completely hand over to Tomhet. I'll still pop in every now and again for fun, but not as much and not in capacity as an admin.
So, play nice for Tomhet all - especially now that he has his finger over the ban button ;D
Yours, Dinotoyformerly

Sorry to hear that--you've been very helpful to me personally, and I won't soon forget it.

Aw, how could you change your user name like that? It's so sad.
Well, good luck with whatever it is you're moving on to. Send me a PM with your mailing address if you'd like a little farewell present from yours truly.

I'm sorry you won't be around much. I'm sorry if I've offended you in anyway. I don't really believe its a good idea to take things too seriously. I really do respect you and your knowledge. I always kind of wished you would do a book on prehistoric animals, and explain things according to your point of view. Well Good Luck to you and don't be a stranger! A voice from the Stoneage.

That's too bad :-( Can't you mark yourself as a "veteran" of the forum?

I know that life sometimes throws us 'curveballs' (ie unexpected situations) and we then have to improvise accordingly.
I hope that all is well with you and your family and you're simply stepping back due to 'burnout' (which I didn't help last night with those 2 silly posts for which I apologize again).
I hope we will hear from you from time to time as new dino-goodies come out.
Godspeed!

Well, Adam, on one hand I'm surprised and on the other hand, I'm not so surprised. You've been saying how busy you've been with your real-life dino job. So, if that is one of the main reasons for stepping down as overseer here, I can completely understand. Thanks for starting this forum up, Adam. It is a great place and you should feel very proud of it! I've learned sooooo much in the relatively short time I've been here. And, I've especially leaned alot about marine reptiles from you! Job well done. Adam!! Even though you're stepping down as Admin, I still hope to see you popping in more often than not. Good luck with all your endeavors! And Tomhet, thanks for taking over the responsibilities. I'm sure you'll do a great job! ;D Long live Dr. Adam Stuart Smith's Dino Toy Forum!!!

When I read CT's post on the Stuff forum I was afraid of what he meant...it is true...you're ending your reign as admin. Well Adam, I would like to thank you for making my life a bit better for an entire year. Upon finding this forum, I immediately gained a massive amount of respect for you and other surrounding members. This is only the second forum I had attended, and I am honored it was on a subject that I have loved for years. I'd send you a Plesiosaur, but I would not put it past you to have almost every one in existence by now. ;D I am very much shocked, but then again, the sudden deaths and dethronings are becoming so abundant it dulls down. Good luck my friend. Enjoy your marine reptiles, and don't stop collecting those toys!

Hey, Adam, I will really miss you around here. Thanks a lot for making a place like this possible - a virtual refugee for dinosaur enthusiasts like us. You were the one who highly contributed to the climate in this forum, a climate where everyone felt welcome at once. I know what I´m talking about. Searching for the Invicta blue whale I arrived here and wasn´t expected by the usual forum arrogance of a circle who thought to have found the holy grail or something. No, we are simply craze dinosaur collectors who love to hunt and gather and then regard the successes on our shelves. This outing was not too difficult for me since you made me feel well about this passion. Thank you for that. I hope you´ll be around here sometimes. How about the Blog? Do you want to step down here, too? Welcome, Tomhet as admin! I know you´ll do a great job here!

Thanks for all the kind words everyone, it means a lot. I'll still be around to say hello from time to time - so I'll never be far away. I'll still be adding to the dinosaur toy blog. If anything, by limiting my time spent on the forum, I'll be able to dedicate more time to writing reviews

Very sad- understandable though-
you should be very proud of what you have created here, and all here will miss you- for the presence you have lent to the forum, and for the clear headedness and evenhanded way you have run things here-
good luck in all of your future activities-
