So here I am, revisiting a somewhat old thread. And then, we will gang up and beg for him to produce fossil fish; start with the easier, Cretaceous ones, and work back! omg yes!!i think we all need to band together and strong arm companies to making more prehistoric fish, trilobites and other inverts, prehistoric reptiles and amphibians, and mammals - oh yeah and birds I AGREE!!! ;D Because tiny size is tough.

I have now placed an order with the Replica Toy Fish company. When I get them I will let you all know how they are.
One interesting thing--if they are a success, he has HUGE plans to expand out--I think USA fish is a jumping point (a logical one, given where he is). There are plans to do aquarium fish, primitive fish, prehistoric fish, etc.
What does this mean? It means that if you want to see this stuff happen, you need to support the company now. I am not saying that we should all pay thousands of dollars for so many fish figures that he can't keep up with demand, but if there is something you are interested in--gars, pike, bass, freshwater fish in general--demonstrate to the company that it is worthwhile. In this case, the only useful vote is money (sad but true).
There will also be an expansion of scales (so, for example, the gars are intended to come out in smaller, 3" models later).
The nice thing is that they are not expensive. Even the larger figures (6") are under $5.
(I am using this post in a few forums--who has time to write the same thing more than once?). ;D

I very much intend to contribute my monetary vote soon. ;D That's good to hear. I am really hoping we can get this guy to be a success (how many of us have thought about/creating our own line? Because I know I have--and he's doing it!). So I have made my (first) contribution. Of course, I am also putting the bug in the ears of distributors and wholesalers; might as well use the contacts I have for good (instead of the usual evil...).

Sadly, I'm not into modern fish - if his company does do well enough so that they move on to prehistoric fishes I'll get some of those!

So the USA fish have arrived. Very impressive line. The 6" ones are the most impressive, although it would be harder to find dinos figures to scale with them (the big Galaxy dinos, maybe?) Almost the whole bunch: We wound up with the toobs, individual packs, and tackle box of the small fish. My son already took the tackle box! Plus at least 2 of each of the 6" ones (again, my son already took one of each). The big 6" figures. The gars are so very cool--and the gars look great suspended in a pond! They sink, so they require a float. The small ones: Possibly of less interest here (although the pikes could be useful for some dioramas as gar stand-ins). He does have prototypes of many other small figures--including other gars, bowfin, paddlefish, other sturgeon, etc. Just needs to be able to fund their production! Either way, it's really cool to have these--and realize that it is possible to create a line of figure products all on your own!

Thanks for the photos, sbell! And so I did what I already wanted to do right after you posted the link to the site: Contact him and ask for an international order. Yes, I want these, too.

I have to say, I am very impressed by them--and I hope that it works out that his maddest plan of all, to represent freshwater fish from all around the world eventually, will come to pass.

Oh, and the communication seems excellent so far! He only needed a few minutes to give a shipping quote, I have an order and already sent my payment. Seems to be very customer friendly, too!

I have found the same thing. I actually spoke with him on the phone yesterday (I may have some contacts that can increase his visibility, that sort of thing) and he is very enthusiastic and passionate about what he is doing. His end goal is to raise the profile of freshwater fish, with the intent of encouraging their conservation and proper management (especially of the big, vulnerable ones like gars and sturgeon). No small task there.

I know that gars and sturgeons can be good prehistoric fishes; but I'd only need one of each of those (and they'd have to be small to fit in the mouths of my crocs/sharks/spinos etc), but if I ordered a bunch of the others all I'd end up doing would be throwing them away anyways, as I really don't have a use for them.
But if he makes a prehistoric set I'll be one of the first to place an order!

But if he makes a prehistoric set I'll be one of the first to place an order! You can order them individually. As for ones to fit the dinos--the small pike would be very good stand-ins as gars; if you are talented with a small blade, it would really only take a couple mods to the tail. EDIT--or, for North American scenes, apparently pikes (Estesesox) were first found in the late Cretaceous. Right here in Saskatchewan (Albertasaurus-faunas) and beyond. Alberta too. So those T.rex-by-the-pond scenes can include them no problem.
