Nay, acquiring accomplishments is not a waste of time in the least! ;D ;D Of course you're right - but life is short and you know, we want the illustrated book ..... or a portfolio? ;D

Thanks Helge, that's good to know about the trunks. I might have to get one. Can you take a picture with the platy and a Carnegie or other standard mammoth for reference? Most mammoths are ~1:20, yes? I don't know how big that sweater-wearin little preppie is!

Haha, Helge, awesome Andrewsarchus, nice sauropod! I have that "Was ist Was" - dinosaurbook, too. All three editions (or were there even four?).

I have that "Was ist Was" - dinosaurbook, too. All three editions (or were there even four?). Yeah - it was good for little beginners back then! I don't know about the edition. My next one was the "Bunter Kinder Kosmos" book ;D. Can you take a picture with the platy and a Carnegie or other standard mammoth for reference? Most mammoths are ~1:20, yes? I don't know how big that sweater-wearin little preppie is! Here are 2 comparison shots. The 1st with the Wild Safari Amebelodon & the 2nd with the Carnegie Wooly Mammoth. I'd say the Amebelodon is about 1:45 and the Mammoth about 1:30 . I guess Platybelodon was pretty similar in size to Amebelodon, but I'm not sure either.

There's a new Shapeways Diplodocus miniature by David Krentz. It holds something like a stone slab on that something's written that I can't read. The figure is called 'Dino for Fred'. This is the 'black, strong & flexible' material .....

Thanks for posting those pictures of the mammoth and Platy, Helge! Looks like the size isn't too far off, heads are similar, bodies a little more... On my Bullyland Deinotherium and Mammoth the scale is listed as 1:24. I don't know the relative sizes of the other various tuskers, anybody have a diagram? Or know the scales of the others? Anyway, now I'll probably have to get this too, despite my no 1:20 or greater rule I like the Andrewsarchus helluvalot also. I think Paleocraft did this model a slight disservice with the paint they gave it; while very nice overall, it makes it look kinda like a misshapen tiger. I'd definitely give it a unique look, part wolf, part jaguar? Something different, regardless. ;D

This is the 'black, strong & flexible' material ..... Lucky you! I've just checked it on shapeways - the model is gone! And the Ankylosaurus is "not for sale" right now. So you may be - next to a certain Fred - the only one who will ever have this model.

It's true, I also just checked this. Obviously I placed my order just in time. But there should be others who ordered it. It's a brilliant figure, but the pic Krentz provided on Shapeways' homepage wasn't so good. I almost overlooked it.

Takara really do make some of the best miniature animals available... You should check out the 'Nature Techni Colour' series. I've never seen a series that has so much detail, accuracy and artistic presentation on such small animal figures. Back on topic - Those are some mighty nice mini figures postsaurischian. If I haven't wasted so much money on buying brutal death metal CDs, I would have had quite a collection of mini figures (from Jap companies) by now

Can we expect to see the whole new TAKARA Deep Sea Fish set from you soon ? Of course, as soon as they arrive! For those who are interested: The other figures of this Takara set are Regalecus glesne, Macropinna microstoma, Abyssobrotula galatheae, Psychrolutes phrictus, and Himantolophus groenlandicus. They are also releasing a second set containing Argyropelecus sp., Mitsukurina owstoni, Eurypharynx pelecanoides, and Latimeria sp., I couldn't identify the other two with certainty yet, one looks very much like a deep-sea zoarcid. Oh - and I see you also bought the Sunset background from idee.

It was what largely prompted my comment. They are stunning, stunning little models. I defy anyone to show me a more exquisite leaf turtle than theirs in commercial existence, to name but one example.
