....out of curiosity, does the Carnegie Giga even have fenestrae? And is the Giga known for pronounced fenestrae, relative to other theropods?

Exactly how pronounced the fenestrae would have been in the living animal is a matter of contention. Giganotosaurus did indeed have some huge openings in its skull, but these may have been scarcely noticeable when covered with tissue in life.* The Carnegie Giga does have traces of them. Here's Stoneage's pic of the Schleich Giga head that I worked backwards from. (Sorry it's huge...not my fault though...  ) Note where the jaw ends and the seeming lack of musculature behind it. It doesn't make a lot of sense.  Here's a Giganotosaurus skull cast pic from Wikipedia that I also looked at. It's a good photo.  Here's my photo of the Carnegie Amargasaurus and Giganotosaurus together. I think the Carnegie Giga is rather scrawny, but as you can see the head is a pretty good match for the real thing. Also the sculptor has taken into account the fact that this animal needed, like, muscles to open its jaws.  *Disclaimer: I are layman. |

Maybe its got a disease?? Actually, it used to be a perfectly normal Giganotosaurus until it was ambushed by the Schleich sculptors. |
