Well, here they are, the deluxe set of large Procon 2008 figures. There are 6 figures: Agustinia, T-rex, Spinosaurus, Ankylosaurus, Baryonyx, and Pteranodon. Nice to finally have some large sized Procon figures. The sarupod, T-rex, and Baryonyx are about the size of Papo/Bullyland figures. The spino, ankylo, and pteranodon are much bigger and closer to the Gallaxy figures in size. I really love the T-rex, agustinia, and Baryonyx. The most detailed is the sauropod. Trully impressive attention to details. My only problem with the figure is the head. It's a bit big and not as detailed compared to the rest of the body. Other than that, the figure is truly worth having. It is the most unusual sauropod toy ever! The T-rex departs from the typical pose we usually see. Imaginative on Procon's part to release a T-rex, the most famous and most represented dinosaur in the toy world, in a very dynamic and unique pose. Like the agustinia, attention is also paid on the details. The coloring is a lot more subdued that the promotional pictures. He looks great next to the Papo rex (truly a great pair to use in a battle scene diorama!). The Baryonyx, in my humble opinion, is one of the best out in the market. I just love him and I'm not a big fan! The Anklylo, Pteranodon, and Spino, all good but not my favorites so I don't have much to say. They are however really big, solid figures. Procon also is the most consistent in producing very well balanced figures. All, I mean all, the bipedal figures stand perfectly balance on just the feet without the clever help of the tail. Procon's goal of releasing a wide diversity of dinosaur species never before issued as toy figure is really ambitious for such a young company (2-3 years?). And for the most part they have. The are also very prolific in production. The figures are a mix lot as far as the sculpting and detailing go, but the list very impressive. I hope that Procon continue producing rare and unusual dinosaur figures. I am also hoping that they will be around for a long time. They have so much potential that it is worth supporting the entire line. Come on, how long before all the well established lines such as Safari, Bullyland, Schleich release really cool figures? It took them years to release impressive figures! So I may be the only procon optimist here, but I bet in a few years all the figures sculpting and details will be greatly improved. You can already see the vast difference between the 2007 and 2008 figures. I personally can't wait to see what next years lineup looks like.

Awesome pics as always, boki, thanks for sharing with us ;D I wonder why everybody criticizes Papo but not Procon. That T-Rex is taken directly from JP. EDIT: boki, I eliminated some of the unnecessary code from your post

Ok so... is Procon ripping off the Papo ripoffs of JP Rex and spino? Cause they look right out of the movie... How do the Augustinia's feet look? Does that spino have two crests... and two fingers?? If so... why? I guess these companies only look at side views of the animals before making 3D models. That would explain why the apatosaurs never have bifurcated vertebrae on the neck No fur on the Pteranodon? Even Carnegie gave us a furry Quetz, years ago. (Do the anti-feather crew also have something against ptero-fuzz by the way?)

If you define a bird as something with feathers would ptero-fuzz make it a bird?

The Baryonyx and Augustina look pretty terrific, any chance of pics with something to give a sense scale? I hear these are big. Is the JP style T.rex comparable in size with Papo's JP rex?
The others I'm less impressed with, but I guess they're okay for a start-up.

The head of the Bary is completely off It doesn't look bad, but they should be more careful.

The head of the Bary is completely off It doesn't look bad, but they should be more careful. It looks like all the heads are completely off. I doubt they looked at actual good reconstructions for any of them. The Spino head looks absolutely nothing like Spinosaurus (see the Carnegie prototype for what it should be), the rex looks like the JP rex (i.e. wrong), you mentioned Bary, the Nothronychus head does not look anything like any therizinosaur I've ever seen (in fact I'm guessing they made this one up completely without looking at any relatives), the Augustinia head looks really weird and un-sauropod like... the list goes on

Your comment about the unique pose of the T. rex sparked my memory! If the original sculptor is well-read on T. rexes, perhaps they were inspired by the "display that never was" in the American Museum of Natural History. I'm sure many of you are familiar with their classic "kangaroo pose" T. rex (before it underwent a reposing in the 1990's), but there were plans once to mount TWO of these beasts in combat over a corpse. One was in a crouched position, but eventually it was only the standing pose mount that was actually done. If you head to the AMNH website and do a search through their PDF library, you can find the original AMNH Novitates paper that details the proposed display, with a photograph of a model they built to illustrate it. The Procon T. rex doesn't mirror this crouched pose exactly, but it's still nice to see!

The head for the Bary looks a bit...strange, yes...but the body is very accurate.

The head for the Bary looks a bit...strange, yes...but the body is very accurate. Err... not really. The body is too 'tall'--Bary and Sucho had pretty slender bodies. And the wrists are broken/pronated. www.kheper.net/evolution/dinosauria/baryonyx.gif

I still don't see what's the problem with the Papo/Procon Deluxe/Jurassic Park T.rex...I mean, maybe the arms are a lil' too long, but the rest is spot-on and really accurate in my opinion...When i went to the Natural History Museum of Milan,i looked VERY closely (analyzing every bone, every bump and crack) at the T.rex skeleton (Stan) which is mounted there, and (surprise, surprise!) i found almost NOTHING different from the Stan Winston restoration which appeared in the JP franchise...Same "box-ish" and robust head, same body, same tail...Really,i don't see what's the problem with the JP Rex

Here is a post that hopefully will answer Thagomizer, Bolesey, and Webdragon (for the idea). So Bolesey, I used both the Papo T-rex and Safari 2008 diplo for size comparison. Thagomizer, here are some close up of various diplo feet. So what do yah think? I'm sure you will say that they are all wrong, but who's the best? I included the models faces, too ;D Webragon, for your comment about the proposed AMNH T-rex display. Close enough? Papo and Procon T-rex look good together, don't you think? We are talking about Toys here and not museum displays. So Accuracy is not so much of an issue for me, after all they are all toys ;D I love it! Procon is starting to emerge as the most polarizing line of dinosaur figures based of everyones response! Hope you all like the photos [img src="http://i344.photobucket.com/albums/p323/Bokichops/Response-1.jpg" ]

Oh and as for the price... I got mine on ebay for $80 including shipping. So the figures came out to about $14 each compared to the usual $19 - 25. If your interested in acquiring all the figures, keep a look out for Pretimes list of items.
