So on laughing giraffe I saw someone say that they emailed the president of Safari Ltd. and asked if anymore replicas would be added to the monteray bay aquarium collection. I guess they are planning to focus on it in 2012, any thoughts on this? I'm curious what they would make, I kinda assumed it was a dead collection more or less and that WS Sea life was taking over for it but I guess not.

I thought that line was "dead in the water" too. If they are restarting it, I'd suspect some pretty cool stuff; perhaps an Oarfish, an Ocean Sunfish, and a Bluefin Tuna along with some new marine mammals and sharks. Whatever they make, it will almost certainly be something that is not in Safari's own line.

well all I gathered was that it would be one of the main areas of focus in 2012, which hopefully doesn't mean that the prehistoric lines will be neglected

Don't get your hopes up, although we can all dream can't we? ;D I'm mostly looking forward to the WS Dinosaurs just because I'm sticking to just collecting those (too much of a completist, if I collected other lines I would go broke ) but I am still very interested to see what Monteray Bay cranks out next year.

If it is anything like their deals with, say, Carnegie, it is probably up to the Monterey Bay Aquarium what is made.
In other words, figures that are important the MBA.

I would presume it would be the same as Carnegie, the question is, what would be important to Monteray Bay, and also what would sell well? I mean a bluefin tuna would be good for educational purposes but honestly, how many kids are gonna pick up a tuna and be excited about it? I think sharks and whales definitely would be first choices, I imagine they sell best of all sea creatures.

Wait a minute... Did the president of Safari answer back and say that they are going to be making new figures in the Monteray Bay Collection, and what makes you think that they are going to focus more on that then anything else?

Yeah, she emailed them back and said they were focusing on that collection in 2012 www.laughinggiraffe.com/showthread.php?t=4674

Did she say anything else beside what you said on the LG forum? Hey nope she didn't say anything else. I asked on Facebook again to the Safari ltd page: Hi Kevin, We are not having any new MB Aquarium replicas at the present moment. Sincerely, The Safari Ltd. FB Team -Man what a drag. Oh well I put on their suggestions they should do an oarfish figure, mahi-mahi (dolphin fish), the megamouth shark, and a cryptozoology collection (Bigfoot, lochness, etc)

They used to have a Crypto collection..I have the Loch Ness Monster and Dragon from it. I suggested more turtles..like a Matamata and a Common Snapper. I also asked about some new Dragon ideas for 2012..I got the reply that I would be really impressed and happy with 2012...cause they had some big plans or something. Not sure that helps much.
