In case you haven't heard, Shapeways now has some new options: polished white strong and flexible, and frosted detail and frosted ultra detail. I ordered the Heteroceras by Eric's Studio in frosted detail. Interested in seeing how it looks, I think I might finish it in transparent glazes to allow light to shine through. The polished WSF will be good for some of the amphibians which have sandpaper skin, just hope the feet don't get polished away!

Did any of you happen to see this model? I will be picking this up in white detail. Though I do wish that there was a lower jaw.

Could someone here tell me what's the best material to order the Krentz Alamosaurus and Tyrannosaurus? I plan on getting some painted, and wondered how big a difference there is between White Detail, and Ultra Frosted Detail. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. ;D

Could someone here tell me what's the best material to order the Krentz Alamosaurus and Tyrannosaurus? I plan on getting some painted, and wondered how big a difference there is between White Detail, and Ultra Frosted Detail. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. ;D My Frosted UD has not arrived yet, guess they take longer than the SWF and WD. I started painting last figures I got, which are made of the WD, and to be honest, I am not that happy with the results. The material is hard to paint, the paint tends to not stick very well. Also, using a primer, it adds layers, making it really difficult to preserved the details. With such small figures, the challenge is preserving as much details as possible. The SWF may not be as detailed as the WD material, but I found that I really like the way the paint stick and interact with the material. It also is ready to paint, no need to prime it. You can create cool effect with it. But that is just my experience with this material, perhaps others have better. I put out a question, but no one answered

Here is a shot of a Brachylophosaur By Angie through ShapeWays that i did for a customer. hard to paint these little guys without having it look "painted on" i prefer my paint work to look very realistic ,something thats hard to do in this scale. hope he is happy with it.
