Just a formal announcement that members of the DTF will be meeting in the Natural History Museum, London, on Saturday 18th June 2011. Do come along if you can make it.
Six members (I think), including myself, have confirmed so far.
Anybody have any preferences for a time and place in the museum to meet?

Any time is fine for me, though 11am sounds pretty ideal, I think.
I'm wondering if I might encourage the attendees who haven't already done so to post their gorgeous portraits in the 'Pictures of Us' thread, the better to aid recognition for when we meet?
Ought we to give Dr. Adam a red umbrella too, do you think? ;D

what a bummer... but we'll have a great time nonetheless, I'm sure about that. I especially feel bad for Dinolord, because he has never visited the NHM before...

Oww... Curse and blast. How typical! I especially feel bad for Dinolord, because he has never visited the NHM before... I was just thinking that too. Thank goodness for the exhibition at least.

There are other dinosaur bits and pieces around the museum, such as in the Earth galleries. At least the marine reptile hall will be open, so we can cajole harass gently encourage Adam into giving us a talk.... ;D

Oh cak, just our luck! Oh well this temporary exhibition looks interesting and I love the marine reptiles gallery too, the historic fossils there discovered by Mary Anning and others make it more interesting than the dino gallery in some ways...
BTW, 11am fine for me too.

the historic fossils there discovered by Mary Anning and others make it more interesting than the dino gallery in some ways... I find it more interesting now, mostly because the dino gallery is so familiar to me - it hasn't changed since my first visit in about 1992 - and I've only more recently starting learning more about marine reptiles and the history of their discovery. The Rhomaleosaurus cast is a favourite of mine.

*sighs* You´ll have a great time I´m sure. Please supply us with pictures and stories after you have met! So our worldwide members can be kind of part of it, too. Maybe some day we can have a German / Netherland - meeting, too?! Ruhr area maybe? Or at the Senckenberg?

Sadly I won't be able to come - although I am going to the NHM in a week on a school trip.

So where exactly should we meet up at the museum? Er. By the main hall staircase? Hopefully you'll recognise some of us.
