I can tell you what I know of CollectA for 2012, but ya'll aren't going to like it. They will make their announcements in...mid-November. And they will say NOTHING until then. All because an enthusiastic dino store owner spoke with a CollectA rep, who said too much. And then that store owner went and told the blogs. Mironimus, I'm looking at you!

Pterosaurs and Marine Reptiles would be good, but I'd rather like amphibians or some other kind of animal less commonly make as toys.

Just curious, why are upcoming releases always such a big secret? Does it hurt the company somehow if info is "leaked" a month or two early?

It's because they "borrow" ideas from one another. Also, they are sadists.

It depends--if you know that a competitor is making something similar to you, you'd want to be first to market; plus, some companies actually have the turnaround capability to add to their offerings in order to scoop someone else (the dodo by Safari, and then Papo, is an example). It also gives some time before a competitor gets to assess your offerings and adjust their marketing accordingly.

sbellBut it isn't some expensive thing like a new sports car or a new invention. These are simple and cheap mass production toys.

I think they do this also to build up interest in their products, and as Dan said they are sadists. ;D

And it must be important to some people--look how whiny people got when it was revealed that some of us already know the Safari 2012 releases

Indeed, though I am not too excited for the animals being produced. I feel we've seen them so much in art and media that...aah what the heck am I talking about? Those are dinosaurs that we all suggested. I'm happy because I want to see a new sculpt of A....
Oops.
Almost said it.

Archaeopteryx that would be cool. If you missed the 2 Bullyland ones (first blue, then green) you will probably be waiting awhile.

So one of the new figures is a species which initial is A... Apatosaurus was redone just a while before... so no. Anchiornis? Not likely since emperordinobot said "new sculpt". Archaeopteryx would be new and was done before, so it's possible. EDIT: After Sbell's last comment, I'm not so sure about this one. Allosaurus Carnegie? Don't think so. Anatotitan? Safari did the sue one. But made an Edmonto too and they're very similar. Nope, this probably isn't the one. Ankylosaurus!!!!!!!! Safari needs one!!! I would bet on this one! WS Ankylosaurus would rock I'm sure. Accurate wide body, accurate armor... stunning detail. Would be perfect if true. If I think of any other species I'll post in here.

I'd be happy with an WS Angaturama... ;D
But, there's so many dinos with A as initial. Acrocanthosaurus is a good candidate as well.

It use to be most sales were made at the toy fairs so you wanted to draw in people so you made a big deal about unveiling in New York or Nuremberg. Toy fairs are down internet is more important so you want your new releases on the web. The delay is more in deference to some retailers who do not like early announcements. See this in context with late shipping of some releases.

The problem is that you don't actually know anything, so why pretend to? And for those who do know, I'll just keep deleting your cute little hints.
