I can't believe I still haven't introduced myself, I'm not much of a collector (I haven't really collected dinosaur toys/figurines/dollies since I was about 13), but I do love fossil hunting and I even found a nice Megalodon tooth and my fair share of oddities (one such piece we brought to the Tyrell Museum thinking it might be a degraded spine, turns out it was a tree root that was struck by lighting *shrugs* how weird is that?).
Heck, even when I was just 6 we were out at Drumheller for holidays, it was my favorite place, and we even had a picking site along a certain road to a certain town where we found things from average shells to loads of petrified wood (btw a chunk of quartzy petrified wood looks fantastic in a 20 gallon tank with a sorority of pretty lady bettas).
Uhm, back to who I am, I live in Edmonton, Alberta, born in Vancouver raised in Edmonton and even seasoned by the Saskatchewan praries, I love drawing and from what most people tell me I can assume they're well done, I sometimes feel like it's just the normal shock and awe of someone who can draw fantasy critters that don't suck, I don't have any real talent (aka I'm no where near good enough for a place like conceptart). I love reading, especially the works of Stephen King, Richard Dawkins, Dean Koontz, and a fair it of scientific literature regarding my chosen studies at the time.
Fun fact: I was adamant about becoming a paleontologist ever since I was a young boy, basically when I found out about dinosaurs and who studied them, but my grades just weren't good enough and with my families moving around so much I just lost my spark, having to repeat the 10th grade when I was supposed to be graduating really sucked the will out of me.
Another fun fact: I one day dream of owning a pet store and having a dinosaur theme to the place, from large museum quality models to a special tank/diorama to show off the aquatic section, I really want kids to come into my store and look around in awe, I want my store to be a place you go to get real information from real people who really own and care for their animals, ya know? I don't my legacy to be a billion dollar business that gets sold off after my death for more cash, I want my legacy to be inspiration to the next generation, if even just one boy or girl can learn a tiny bit about history and the animals that came from them, then I'll be happy.
As for a background with pets, I've had for myself everything from a Tiger Salamander (saved him from a water plant (a place that disposes of the salty water from frack jobs)) to a sorority of Betta Splendens females (most people think all bettas need to be kept seperate, but females can actually be kept in large numbers as a group), currently petless however, my fish were recently wiped out by an outbreak of bloat (I can only use the information given to me about how they died, I was unfortunately away for a week and they passed away while I was gone), and my dog (RIP Oreo) was put down about a year ago, still pretty tender from that.
So... yeah, I think that's about it, I hope to be a pretty good member while I'm here (which hope isn't for a short visit) and I hope to get to know the wonderful people here a little better.
HI! *waves hand*
