Does anyone know what's going on with CollectA? I've been wanting to get the 2011 figures for some time now and all the US stores I frequently visit have all been out of so many of these figures for quite a while now. Especially for the past few months when I've been Christmas shopping, all the stores that have been out of stock have not been re-stocking. The stores I've been looking at are: TGFToys, DeJankins, The Dinosaur Farm, and Dan's. All these stores have some in stock, but not all, and I want to order a bulk amount to save on shipping instead of picking a couple here and there and paying for shipping at each venue. Like I said, this has been going on for months now. I've never had this problem before in the past years. I've always put in a big order of dinos for Xmas and have never seen so many out of stock and for so long! Is there some kind of problem with CollectA I don't know of?

I've always put in a big order of dinos for Xmas and have never seen so many out of stock and for so long! Is there some kind of problem with CollectA I don't know of? I am wondering if they are not using the Canadian distributor--I have never received, even once, half of the 2011 releases at the T.rex Centre shop (and have been quite vocal about it, although it hasn't helped). CollectA is aware of the problem, but since the supplier is a Just-in-Time place (or, really, just-way-after-it's-too-late) instead of Just-in-Case, they tend to have very little on-hand stock. The other considerations--these things come over on boats from Asia, so the distributors won't do orders until they need very large quantities of everything (or lots of things). And since the distributors are the source for everybody in a given market, everybody is stuck being able unable to get anything new. Plus, nobody (normally) does orders at this time of year--pretty much, the orders are done to carry through the year, and then new merchandise is brought in after year-end inventories, etc. So don't expect anyone to suddenly have a lot of stock.

Sean is right, the distributor's supply did not meet demand this year. Given the increase in quality for 2012, I have spoken to them about the importance of raising supply this coming year.

I just hope the 2011 figures come back on sale period. I be torn if they would not.

I just hope the 2011 figures come back on sale period. I be torn if they would not. They will. I think that this year CollectA saw some pretty unprecedented interest in their products. But keep in mind, it isn't CollectA that is the problem--it's the North American supplier (the middle man between the factory and the retailers). And I have been complaining about them for over a year now.

Forgot to check back here! Thanks guys for your responses. What all you've said makes sense. It's just frustrating. This is the first time I've ever had any trouble finding them all for Xmas shopping. So anyway, it sounds like they'll be eventually back in stock. (EVENTUALLY, being the key word! ) But, just so they get them in. BTW, keep up the fight, Sean!

Yeah, our store just got some as well--and received the second half of the 2011 figures for the first time.

Theres a store in conneticit called The Dinasaur Place, it has a good variety of callectA dinos, it also has a website you can order from. P.S. they don't update their site much, My mom couldn't find the nothrinychus on the site but, I found it in the store. ;D

Heck, here in Italy Collecta basically disappeared into thin air after the first half of 2010... Except for "Dinoshop" (a very good online shop) and few toy stores where you can one or two of their older figures, well, it looks that they forgot us italian collectors

In Italy Collecta changed the retailer this year so I hope their products will be more present in the stores
