Dont be hating on Gwangi now, I belive thats a fabulous representation of one of Ray Harryhousens dinos. Scientifically accurate, bah of course not, but movie history accurate absolutely!
It all boils down to different strokes for different foiks.
I'll throw this lil nugget out there though, for 1960's knowledge its a pretty good therapod.

yup, it looks a LOT like the allos in pics when I was growing up. I remember some where the therapods were almost interchangable. The only main difference between allosaurus and tyrannosaurus was the number of fingers! Just saying. Many movies in fact called the animals t-rexes when they weren't. But, since JP, boxy headed rexes are EVERYWHERE.

How is it horrible? Because its not accurate? The details are astonishing, and the pose is fantastic. Its worth every penny. I've always wanted a figure from the valley of gwangi. Don't have the money for it now though. Nuff said, let's not push the issue. -_- I said nothing about accuracy at all. I personally don't like it, not my taste and definitely not for that price. As I said, if you like it and you have the $$, go for it. Who cares about why I don't like it? I do collect some retro figures, mostly the marx, sinclair, srg, starlux. If I had that money to spend, I will spend it on other figures and not on that one

Ya, not for that price, or at that scale. But, at a 1/40 scale, as a toy, for maybe 10-12 bucks, then I might consider it for nastalgia's sake. They do good toy lines of many movie monsters, why not a classic dinos line. Buy the way, anyone who has cable, or satellite, the action channel is going to run The Land That Time Forgot. U-Boats glaciers, cavemen, and 70's style dinosaurs. Yay! Except I don't have that channel. More sad Teton.... I repainted the Papo Pteranodon, and mounted it on a base. Will take and post pics in the morning.

Na. It is night here, so I'd have to do flash photo. If you compare my original custom posts to the outdoor ones I just posted, you can see how much the flash distorts the colors. So, I will take some in the morning. It will be a busy day. We have to wait for my SSD check in the mail, about noon. Then, we have to take a 2 1/2 hour one way bus ride to go get Susan's SSD check from the Social Security Office. Then, another 2 hour ride back, to cash the check, and get a money order for the rent. Pay the electric. Then, on the way home, stop at the hobby shop to inquire about spray acryl sealants for Boki's custom I did him. Try to talk Susan into buying a Papo Para for 12 bucks. Then another half hour ride home. Whew.
Then try to seal the Camarasaurus. If my moms package comes, try to charm the Schleich 08 Allo out of my wife, spend a couple of hours ogling it and taking pics. Then, packing Boki's package. You're getting the camar plus three others, four total buddy. Then to bed. Then wake up and mail Boki's pakage. Whew.
Anyway, what was I saying? Any point to make? Sugar is low, gotta go eat.

Let us know how the sealer works, i painted the spikes on my little lexo last night and would like to be able to seal it somehow. Have you used sealed before and has it worked?

I have not used it before. The acryl is water soluble, so sealing may be a good idea. Also, excessive handling can wear it away.
I do have a flat and a semi-gloss clear coat, but it is brush on, not spray. I have found from experience that brushing it on will mess up the paint job, the colors all run together. That is why I was thinking spray, I know such a thing exists for model making, but I will not know if the shop carries it until I get up there to look.
I normally don't bother with mine, as aside from taking pics, I do not touch them much. But the custom I did for Boki, I view as a professional commission, and if I can seal it, then it seems like the professional thing to do. Plus, I want to decrease the risk of scratching on the return trip.
Also, in theory, once the flat sealant is dry, you could go back in with gloss or semi-gloss clear coats and make the eyes and mouth areas appear moist. So, it will be an interesting experiment. IF, the store has the stuff, or is even still there. I have not been there in a month and a half, and in this economy....

There are problems with it, and we have to go down every month until it is straightened out. The office is across town, and the city buses are slow.

Don't worry too much about trying to find a sealant if it cost a lot of $$$, really Just wrap him up in bubble wrap, I'm sure he will be fine. I appreciate the effort. ;D
