I got my complete set last year on ebay for $50, but I don't know how much they'd go for today. They seem to be rarer than that, so that price is probably pretty close to what they're worth.

Wow, I didn't know there was another Windstone collector here! I'm an addict too, unfortunately Not as bad as with the dinosaurs though! What would you be looking to get for the feathered serpent figure?

Oh yeah...I'm a member of the forums over there as well...did you know Windstone did Dinosaurs as well ? ;D I'm not as bad as some of those guys over there needing every color and such...if I have one of each sculpt eventually I'm happy. Feel free to PM me if you want to talk Dragons.. Let's see, well there aren't any Windstones that would be worth him unfortuantly..heh Would 10.00 plus shipping be too much ? I'd also trade if you have something on my list..if you want any of the other Dragon items let me know and make you a better deal...after all the more I sell to one person the less I have to deal with.. ;D

Anyone care to speculate if the prices I'm asking are still fair or not ? There is some interesting stuff here..just not seeing much return on it... :?

I think the prices are fair, certainly, but I also think that doesn't much matter right now. As has been said elsewhere, this does not seem to be a seller's market. I don't think most people are getting the "fair" price on anything and end up either taking what they can get, or holding onto the items in hope of better times to come.
As for the forum members specifically, I think either they already have them, or just plain can't afford them. I now I can't come close to offering you that type of cash....

Dunno. A lot of god condition loose ones--allo, utah, and iguano just sold for 60. That's 20 each, way less than had been the case before...

Yeah, I saw a whole set of loose ones...but no MIB to compare...I guess that makes them rarer at least ?
What about the Playvision marine reptiles ?

Don't know, on MIB or playvisions. I think many sellers are getting bitterly disappointed on auctions. I think, people are needing extra cash, and are either selling off the collections, or the extras they had invested in for this reason, but are finding that the prices commanded previously are not happening now...
Possibly, like housing prices, and comic book prices, the collector's market for some of these like the WWD's and Battats was way over inflated, and the bubble has burst. Much like the comic book crash a while back, if you remember that. Books that were "worth" 100o dollars or more at one time were going for less than 60 at the end. like McFarlane's first issue of Spiderman, for example. After the hype wore off, and the bottem fell out of the comic market, that book deflated in value badly.
The dino toy market is much the same. Many adult collectors buying and hording multiple figures as investments later, pushing prices up. But. that makes the figures and rarer comics unavailable to kids or average collectors. Its a great investment, unless something really bad happens to the economy.....

Ya. I used to collect comics, and keep them mint on boards in bags, the whole deal. I used to say they were worth this, or that. My ex used to say they were only worth what people would pay for 'em. That was pretty true. The guides would all say if a book was worth, say 40 dollars. Try to sell it to a comic shop, say, they would only give you like 10-15 cash, maybe 20 credit. But, go back in to buy that very same book, they will be selling it at list price, usually more.
The problem was, many new books were becomming valued at similar prices as the old stuff. This was partly--mostly--due to collectors buying multiple issues at cover price, hoping to sell unopened mint issues later at high prices. This created shortages at the shop, so certain issues became "rare" and thus worth more. A vicious cycle. The industry picked up on that, and started running reprints--second editions they called them--of these issues, often with variant cover art. These then also became worth money--variants--and so the industry got the bright idea to run multiple alternate cover art issues, sometimes upwards of 5 or more variation of the same issue. The inside art is always the same though. So, the collectors went crazy to get the variants, which were always run in deliberately short runs, to boost collectability thus boost the price. Then they started running more and more crossover, multi-book "events' where you had to get EVERY issue of every book for a whole summer to get the whole story. And since some books did not sell as well as others, they did not have as big of orders. This meant less parts of those bits of story to go around, thus creating shortages, which lead to "collectability" irregardless of how crappy the book was, leading to inflated price. And cover prices jumped to almost 5 bucks a book in some case
well, this seller's paradise could not last forever. The whole comic industrie's bottom just fell and crashed, almost killing it. Several companies, like the independents folded completely, and I think Marvel went through bankrupcy. It took a long time for them all to recover, but I don't know if they ever quite reached that level again. this was all like mid 90's or so. I know a lot of books got cancelled, and lines got streamlined.
Anyway, I think the market is like that right now. I think the prices on these figures was driven by collectability, and became really unrealistic. Now, the bottom has dropped some, and combined with a bad economy, this is the result. Bad for sellers, great for buyers.

The playvisions sold for $80 tops, but that was a long time ago, now you can get one set for something close to $50.
As for the WwDs. I've found at least two MIB Liops (well, one was not so MIB, the bubble was a little bit crushed so I opened it) that went for less than $60, which IMHO should be the limit for dino toys. Personally I'd never pay $150 for a figure like that, I'd rather buy a resin kit.

A lot of those comic companies started selling their film rights about then didn't they ? I have two boxes of comics I don't read and shelves of others myself..lol My bro collected all the X-Men figures..he had exclusives and everything..the whole, gigantic lot sold on eBay for around 100.00..man that sucked..all for his college and it barely paid gas.
I list all my prices on here as negotiable and are trade-able..but I'll go revise them based on your suggestions Tomhet...everything I have listed has been taken down and boxed..I'm just afraid of damage during storage if left for years...that along with the fact I may forget about it all.

*sigh* You coul auction them, but you know how risky auctions are Don't I know it...you can put reserves , buy-it-nows, ect.. but it doesn't get much....eBay is becoming a hole...a big black one just sucking up cash..but it doesn't go to the buyer or seller ..just to eBay and Paypal's pockets... I'm tempted to contact seller's like Thelordsgym... see what he will offer me for the whole lot.

Yup. Marvel especially sold a bunch of rights and let other companies produce movies, but that has changed I think. Marvel's admin is much more creatively involved with the films now, and the increase in quality is obvious.
I am sorry it's not going well. I think a lot of people feel the same as you. The economy has really hit hard....
