He uses forced perspective, as far as I know, although if you can show me examples it would help. Not that I don't believe you, but I can't recall having seen any. I think he edited this one: www.dinosaurcollector.150m.com/Devonian_files/DevonSea.jpgAnd I edit my pics but I use my own figures, I would never consider to use someone else's pics I've used backgrounds I found on the net, but not lately. I use Photoshop because I like to portray Paleeozoic animals that aren't in the same scale, but I make my own scenery, but if everybody feels troubled by this, fine, I will stay out.

No trouble here, Tomhet! It was just the backgrounds, foliage, and figures from other sources besides our own that I thought might be a little unfair compared to others who would try to create from their own sources. I'm looking forward to seeing what you create!

Besides, you have done really good physical dioramas.

Any idea when it will end? (Obviously it has no start date as people can easily go out and make a diorama whenever they feel best)

Well, I for one cannot avail myself of photo editing of any sort, this old computer crashes if I try to crop more than 3 images in a row.... And yes, I do feel that photo shop gives a distinct advantage to those who have it. There are many things I could do, if I had it. So, count me out.

Kevin, You're looking at it the wrong way You're better placed than most to make excellent dioramas as your figures are so unique. Also, you have the benefit of great light conditions out there where you are to work with. As for the contest/competition. Wouldn't it be better just to label it an 'art' contest anyway? That way anything goes and for those who want to submit wholly or partly CGI'd or photoshopped stuff just have to site their source material and evidence it on submission. Even so, there's room for someone to trace something into photoshop on an artpad and drop in a bit of colour. There's room for creating a 3D animal armature and creating a skin for it and a realistic environment or sucessfully patching together multiple images and then working on individual pixels to create something totally new or you can draw/paint/sculpt something or create a diorama with existing modified (or not) figures ......................... the voters will see the amount of work that's gone into something or the depth of imagination behind it and vote accordingly. John It's a toy-based diorama contest. If someone shows up with a CGI-created animal in there, that is the same as photoshopping in a figure you don't have. Plus, how many people would bother competing against someone that is now doing 3D rendering?

Phoenix around me is a wasteland of concrete, enormous river rocks, and...grass. there is nothing close, that would not need some amount of editing.

The Eastend area/Frenchman River Valley around me is almost nothing but rolling hills, river banks, treed areas, flat prairie expanses, badlands and the occasional farm or town. But right now, it's mostly cold and snow and wind!

I wish I could take dios in phoenix! ;D I mean, travel a mile and you are in the middle of the desert! That would be a great place to take a diorama picture.

Umm, not really Cordy, there's suburbs like Scottsdale and Surprise all around, to really get to the desert you'd have to go further than you think.

;D Good luck CT and Dr. Admin! ;D From what has been posted, it could be a very "interesting" contest indeed! ;D ;D ;D I can do either one, so I don't really care which way it goes... and I live in downtown Seattle! My biggest challenge if I enter is what to do, I created so many physical dioramas already I'm not sure how much more I can juice my little artistic brain ;D
