And if it is in scale with the Rex it will be interesting!

I believe he is keeping all the larger animlas 1/40 scale just like the Rex... only really small animals will scaled up.

I already said that but I hope you will find a beautiful pair of hindfins for it. Here is a picture of a stenopterygius where we can see the dorsal fin, if it could help. I can't find the same pic of an ophtalmo.

/\ In the above pic the dorsal and caudal fins are not part of the fossil themselves, they have been carved into the rock.

OK, I finally had some time this morning to spend some time on your ichthyosaur, instead of trying to describe the various tweaks, I find it easier (and hopefully if will be more useful) to use photoshop, admittedly quite crudely but its a nice way to visualise things. Here is the original photograph in lateral view with a skeletal reconstruction above and my tweaked version based on the skeleton (I used transparencies throughout the process) below, with notes to indicate exactly what I did. I'm aware that there is some lateral flexion to the original sculpt but for ease I have reconstructed my version without this. Hope it is helpful and doesn't come too late. I would have loved to have done this with the Muraenosaurus too if i'd have had the time, hopefully I can do the same for other sculpts too, especially more marine reptiles!

I forget to mention, the name is a bit tricky to spell - it is Ophthalmosaurus, not Opthalmosaurus - there is an extra 'h' in there.

I'm not sure, but doesn't the mouth curve a little too much on this one?

Doesn't look wrong to me...I guess DTF would have caught it if it was.. :?

Forgot to label it but you will see that the curvature of the mouth is slightly reduced in my photoshopped version.

^ I did notice that. You have an eye for perfection with your Ichthyosaurs.

^ I did notice that. You have an eye for perfection with your Ichthyosaurs. Yeah, I noticed the slight change in the mouth too. Adam, your expertise with these minute details on marine reptiles, never cease to amaze me! I think with this team of Adam and Malcolm, we'll end up with better Marine reptiles than the ones that were recently canceled! ;D

We already have beat them I think...not just with these but even the Safari Tylo...which I'm betting Malcolm's Tylo will also beat...though I'm still waiting to see her... ;D

Is it my imagination or the front flippers should be repositioned? They should be pointing backwards, shouldn't they?

Is it my imagination or the front flippers should be repositioned? They should be pointing backwards, shouldn't they? They flipper could be positioned pointing backwards but in life they primarily jutted out sideways to control pitch, as in the sculpture - In this regard the skeletal illustration is a little misleading.

If this is the third place prize for those who took part in the Diorama contest that recently ended, does that mean this one is finished and we'll see photos soon?
