The Nature Techni Colour figures are really tempting , even though some have a very conspicuous seam ad midlength. I especially like the frogs & toads series, you posted some in your collection thread if I remember correctly. Oh, and nice that you have the Yujin Octopus, I was thinking of acquiring the whole set and then somehow decided just to buy the Greater Argonaut, here it is: Argonauta argo Linnaeus, 1758; Greater Argonaut or Paper Nautilus. Yujin Octopus in Colour model (secret item). Length of eggcase ("shell") 37 mm, scale approx. 1:2 - 1:8. And not to forget this one: Vampyroteuthis infernalis Chun, 1903. Vampire Squid. Kaiyodo Deep Sea Odissey No. 1 model No. 04. Total length 43 mm, mantle length 18 mm, scale approx. 1:3 - 1:7.

The Nature Techni Colour figures also seem to be very nice - the Yujins are just awesome! Hyla japonica - Japanese Tree Frog Megophrys nasuta - Malayan Horned Frog

Okay, so we would have to expand "Marine Life" to "Marine, freshwater and terrestric life" but anyway, again I only have a single figure of that series : Ceratophrys ornata Bell, 1843. Argentinian, Bell's or Ornate Horned Frog or "Ornate Pacman Frog". Yujin The Frogs in Colour Series 1 No. 11, length 40 mm, scale approx. 1:3. Maybe these Amphibians should be put in their own thread, at least if we post more... which could happen... ;D

Piranhadon? The figure reminds me a little of a deep-sea "viperfish", Chauliodus sloanei. And thinking of it - Kaiyodo and Colorate made also deep-sea fish including Chauliodus. Has anyone here ever ordered directly from Colorata by the way? The sets are much cheaper on their site than on ebay. And speaking of deep-sea fish, of course Safari Ltd. had a retired series (of which, sadly, I don't have a single figure) but last year's Incredible Creatures Pelican Eel is a nice and big figure: Eurypharynx pelecanoides Vaillant, 1882. Pelican Eel. Safari Ltd. Incredible Creatures model 2009. If fully stretched out, the model would have a total length of approx. 420 mm.

It's not like that hasn't occurred to many of us before. As it says on the site: 日本国内へのお届けに限らせていただいており、海外へのお届けは承っておりません。 (It is only the delivery to the Japanese country, does not receive the delivery to the foreign country. ) But I highly recommend the Colorata DeepSea and Reef sets. And the Fossil Fish set. And the River life set. And the Salthingyer fish set ;D My figures of these, and all of my Colorata, can be seen here: picasaweb.google.ca/HyenaSean/Colorata#

Pity that they don't ship internationally but that's not too surprising. Anyway, thanks for posting the link to your photos, I already consiered buying the Fossil Fish set, so individual photos other than from the manufacturer are really helpful.

Pity that they don't ship internationally but that's not too surprising. The only thing that prevents Colorata from shipping internationally is the missing CE marking I had a discussion with Mironimus-Rex who tried to import their Dinosaur-sets for his shop. You can get into deep trouble if you're selling products classified as children's toys without the CE marking. Giving your product this marking in Germany is very expensive - I don't know how many 1000 Euros, so he had to reject his plans, but is still in contact with Colorata who are thinking about the CE marking and are looking for sellers who could distribute their toys overseas . Dan - if you read this - you should also write & encourage them to do so .

As far as I know the CE mark is necessary but just a label a company gives to itself proclaiming that standards of the E.C. were met, no matter if it's true or not. Wouldn't that mean it could not really be an obstacle for a distribution into the E.C.?

Our gift shop would totally carry at least the 2 Cretaceous dinos sets and the Sharks set if we could. Might hurt the CollectA sales a little, but they're for different kinds of buyers anyway. Really, I think it's the boxes that would sell them--Safari should switch from toobs to small lunch boxes!

Somehow this raises hope... Isn't Colorata quite a new company? Is there maybe still hope for them to make at least contracts with international distributors. I'm absolutely serious, if they were available here for about what they cost in Japan I'd buy all of them. They are between 1,890 and 2,520 yen per set so like €16-20,-. There are 20 sets or so? I'd buy all of them at once (minus the three sets I already have). I really hope there will be an opportunity once... Ah, I should calm down again... Sorry, it was just the imagination of placing a nice little order totalling something like €300,- and to have all these nice little boxes. I know it won't be that easy in the near future.

I don't know if they are actually new--my oldest complete set is the River Life, from 2003, but I think there are older ones. You can tell because the info books have nearly no English in them. And as well as the original Dinosaurs set, there is an even more rare, impossible to find one--an endangered mammals set that was made and sold for only one zoo in Japan. I have two of the animals (an Aye-Aye and Okapi) but they never even listed it on their website when it was available. It does make me wonder what else they have made that we don't know about? And will there come a day when they take over the dino sets for Dino Expo? And how can I get that Coelacanth tie for a reasonable price?! ;D
