So do you like this set more than the Sharks of the World Box? I remember that you once told me you were a little disappointed of the (standard) sharks box. Well I like them equally, the reason why I was so disappointed was because I thought the figures would be a little bigger, oh well.

Ah, okay. At least the DX boxes give us mostly quite large, albeit fewer figures. While I'm waiting for my NekoWorks Angel Shark, I painted some of the ones I already have. Cetorhinus maximus (Gunnerus, 1765); Basking Shark, model No. NKWS-20. Length 97 mm, scale approx. 1:52 - 1:101. Human figure is 1:87 scale. Isurus oxyrinchus (Rafinesque, 1810); Mako Shark, model No. NKWS-13. Length 95 mm, scale approx. 1:28 - 1:42. Human figure is approx. 1:41 - 1:46 scale. Odontaspis ferox (Risso, 1810); (Smalltooth) Sandtiger Shark, model No. NKWS-11. Length 100 mm, scale approx. 1:36 - 1:41. Human figure is approx. 1:41 - 1:46 scale. The model was perhaps intended to represent Carcharias taurus Rafinesque, 1810, but especially the forward position of the first dorsal suggests O. ferox instead. Somniosus microcephalus (Bloch & Schneider, 1801); Greenland Shark, model No. NKWS-06. Length 86 mm, scale approx. 1:28 - 1:85. Human figure is. 1:72 scale. And, yes, the new human scale figure is from shapeways.

I especially like the Greenland Shark ..... and Grandpa in his summer outfit ;D. And, of course, the Greenland is discontinued. For some reason they discontinue the rarer-made sharks.

Finally my Colorata Marine Mammals DX box arrived ! Thy could have also called it the 'Whales DX box'. The figures are excellent, just as the DX Sharks are - the pics don't really do them justice. Now let's hope for a Dinosaurs DX box ;D. Sperm Whale ..... Killer Whale .....Bottle-nosed Dolphin & Pacific White-sided Dolphin .....Gray Whale .....Right Whale .....Humpback Whale .....Blue Whale .....Blue Whale & Humpback Whale each have two kinds of lower-jaw joints. Either in their normal closed or open feeding position . Here's the Blue for example:

Mine recently arrived too! I haven't had the chance to open them yet, believe it or not. Good to hear from you, Helge. I'd been wondering how you were. I had my share of computer troubles fairly recently myself; it can be pretty infuriating...

Excellent! And great to see you back, Helge. And I'm really looking forward to get these. Assuming the bases are identical with those of the DX Sharks it seems that the Blue Whale is even larger than the DX Whale Shark. Oh, and it's about time to show photos of these: Capsule Aquarium 3 - Shinagawa Aquarium by Kaiyodo No. 5 Enchelycore pardalis (Temminck & Schlegel, 1846); Tiger Moray. No. 6 Pterois volitans (Linnaeus, 1758); Lionfish. No. 7 Carcharhinus brachyurus (Günther, 1870); Copper Shark. No. 8 Pseudocarcinus gigas (Lamarck, 1818); Tasmanian Giant Crab. No. 9 Carettochelys insculpta Ramsay, 1886; Pig-Nosed Turtle. No. 10 Spheniscus humboldti Meyen, 1834; Humboldt Penguin. No. 11 Phoca largha Pallas, 1811; Spotted Seal. No. 12 Orcinus orca (Linnaeus, 1758); Killer Whale. No. 13 Balaenoptera musculus (Linnaeus, 1758); Blue Whale Skeleton.

How can you have so many safari figures, but not the cool new cownose ray? Or the larger Incredible Creatures one, if you prefer.

Not really, I'm afraid . They only had the WS Sealife version listed for a ridiculously high price (€7.50). They seem to have noticed their mistake now and reduced it to 4.50. The IC version remains the same as it was when I bought it at €7.00, still considerably more than you'd normally pay in the U.S. Oh, and there's of course the new addition to the Neko Works sharks by Masato Inoue which I received on Friday: Squatina cf. japonica Bleeker, 1858; Angel Shark, NKWS-21. Length 83 mm.

What a great shot! I love the Angel Shark! What scale figure is that?

It's a 3.75 in/10 cm figure of Mutt Williams from the Indiana Jones Kingdom of the Crystal Skull series by Hasbro, I bought it for €3,- in a local toy shop.

Thanks, Niroot! However, I would have loved to be able to make all these dark spots a lot smaller but my pigment pen didn't allow it.
