Wow, Ct. I must say that this is actually a good sculpt, even though the organism...or mutant...is odd.
It looks like a Salamander (Head), Dimetrodon(Sail and upper back), and a Cat(Legs and general body form).

Of course she is, but doesn't it look like those 3 animals spun together? ;D
No big deal, but isn't it spelled "Platyhystrix"?

Is there any resemblance?

Is there any resemblance? Partly: It still looks like a Dimetrodon infused with a Salamander, but yours has a Cat-like build. ;D I like it better then the picture you posted. Much "cooler" pose.

Thanks sid! He is sitting on my shelf with my other permian critters (I hope my carnegie dimetrodon doesn't intimidate him too much! ;D ).

Is there any resemblance? Yes I think there is some resemblance. Your legs seem a little fatter and the figure appears more upright to me. It's head seems a little small and should probably look more like a frog. Your tail might be a little short. Your sail doesn't seem to go as high. Also your colors are different and don't seem natural to me. I don't mean to be overly critical. Your sculpt is still quite good, and you are talented. I think Tetons Dinosaur repaints have gotten better since he joined the forum, and I think with practice yours will too. Good Job!

Wow cordy these aren't bad at all. The paint job on the platy is superb, how big is it? What clay do you use? That dilo is also very good. Did you use a wire frame of something for it? I'm surprised and impressed.

That Dilophosaurus is very good, and I love the black-and-red striped pattern. As for the frog-thing...well, my ignorance on the matter is clear.

I'm surprised and impressed. The platy is about four or five inches long head to tail tip I use sculpey clay, just the cheapo white clay that comes in the little packs for like 75ยข each.

Yes stoneage, I was thinking of that dilo when I made mine and I copied a drawing of the triadobatrachus I found in a book
