The director was also executive producer for a shoddy American version of the awesome British series 'Spaced' (which you should all see if you haven't already). For this reason alone he should be locked in a dark cupboard and fed pins for the rest of his existence.
;D

I had heard about it being in development, with the producers not even acknowledging the original creators and stars. The next two in the planned Terminator trilogy should be directed by Emmerich, then Boll! ;D

But you are right, looks like they just made a pilot show which stunk. Still, it's pin-feeding time. ;D

Movie critics (like the ones on the net,on the various movie magazines and such) are usually not to trust...Heck,one has to see a movie to judge it,right?
Anywyay...I'm not really interested in this new Terminator movie, mainly because i don't see why they had to do it (cash aside)...Haven't Sarah Connor prevented the judgement day to happen when,in T2,they threw the Terminator's arm in the furnace, basically changing the future?
(bear in mind i haven't seen T3)

Nope. They merely postponed judgement day. Ceberdyne systems bought out the remaining skynet stuff, and turned it into a military deal. Skynet became self-aware, and it put a virus into many of the world's computers. Cyberdyne turned on skynet, thinking it would get rid of the virus, but it turned out that skynet was the virus. Skynet took over the world's military control, and launched nukes into russia and asia, and launched nukes from russia into the americas. That killed three billion people, and then the armies of terminators that were shortly thereafter produced by skynet killed off another two billion people (i think). The last billion would be the resistance than.

That's the beauty of Hollywood writing. The ending of Terminator 2 had indeed been intended to show that Judgement Day had been prevented. It wasn't until the third movie that it was revealed the Connors had been careless in leaving bits of the good Terminator behind in the factory.(Wouldn't they have been more careful than that?!? But there wouldn't have been another movie otherwise I guess) Also, the concept of Judgement Day being unavoidable no matter what did not come up until the third movie.

I think the 3rd movie made more sense, how could they prevent something that would never happen? How could they know about it then? *sigh* So far the reviews have been negative

I loved the T-600's, and the fact that they threw arnie in at the end ;D

T2 was indeed, the end of the story. I have read the original script and in 2029 humans had actually won the war against Skynet. The endoskeletons we see fighting humans with laser guns are actually the last chance of Skynet to resist. (Have in mind the T-800 had been designed as infiltration units, not as battleground soldiers). So, what we see in T2 is Skynet, desperatedly thwowing all he has to exterminate the humans. But they have already win. Kyle Reese said that, indeed, in T1: "We won!"
That's the main reason why Skynet, desperatedly, sent TWO terminators back in time, one to kill Sarah and other to kill John, hoping that at least one of them would things change. He failed, though.
In T2, Sarah and John actually made the war never happen: there's a cut scene that shows Sarah as an old lady watching a children's park.
So, T2 stated that:
1- in the apocaliptyc future, humans will ultimately beat machines in 2029, for good.
2- Sarah and John changes the future and makes the war never happen.
Cameron wanted to close it here. And he opposed since the beginning about a T3 movie. Reason why he never wanted to do it.
Ok, so the T-SALVATION looks like some sort of "alternate reality" or something like that. Ok, but I don't buy it. The movie was good and bad at the same time. It wasn't a true "Terminator" sequel though. Only a sort of spin-off just like the "Sarah Cronichles" tv series or the Dark Horse comics. Worth watching, but NOT canon.

The original skynet was LOSING at that time, they didn't definitively loose until the resistance squadron took ahold of the man supercomputers that were skynet itself (at that time they also took over the time-displacement equipment). Skynet was still functional and still had A LOT of control before that. The T-800s from their first production were intended as battlefield fighters and infiltrators. Only a select few went out to actually infiltrate human bases, as kyle reese in T1 hadn't even ever seen the "arnie" type terminator (flesh series 101 to be exact ). The reason you didn't see any endos in the future war scenes in T1 were because cameron didn't have the budget/technology to build more than the final one for the final scenes of the film. Sarah, John, and The Terminator from T2 pushed back skynet's creation, but they didn't fully stop it. Did they really think all of the YEARS of research put into that big computer chip and all those computers would have only been stored in that one building on that one floor? So another company came along and "finished" the work - and the work they finished was the skynet from T3.

The original skynet was LOSING at that time, they didn't definitively loose until the resistance squadron took ahold of the man supercomputers that were skynet itself (at that time they also took over the time-displacement equipment). Skynet was still functional and still had A LOT of control before that. Yes. But Skynet is f**ked. What we are seeing in T2 is the "final battle", where Skynet knows that he is f**ked so that's why he's sending all his army in this desperate attack. Humans usually hide and attack strategic points and come back to hide again, they don't throw themselves in the battlefield ala Braveheart because humans would have been extinct in seconds. So a battle like what we see on T2 is not an ordinary one. It's not clear why humans have ALMOST defeated Skynet but apparently the responsible for this almost-defeat is John Connor because he tought humans all these "hide-attack-and-run" guerrilla techniques. Skynet, desperated and in fear, decides to throw all he has to the battefield, including the endoskeletons. Same time, he also choses to send a terminator back to 1984 and another to 1991 in order to make sure John Connor is never born. John Connor infiltrates inside the supercomputers building, he first sends Kyle Reese to 1984 to make sure he is born. Second, he sends a T-800 to 1991 in order to make sure the war -at least in some alternate reality- will never happen. --- After that, John probably puts a bomb to Skynet and humans win for good. I'm not sure about that last line, have you read that somewhere? As said massive battlefields were not the daily thing, since skynet's army acted more like cops constantly patrolling, searching for humanity that is hidden and almost never on the surface of the planet. On the other hand, humans acted more like a guerrilla, small groups attacking one important point and then running away. It's the only chance for humans to survive. Big open battles ala warhammer would have ended with the 100% of humans dead in seconds. So the Terminators were specifically built for infiltration, that is explained by Reese on T1 indeed. Several failed prototypes until the ultimate T-800. And yes, there are several models, the "Arnie" model was just one of probably few. The "Franco Columbu" was another model. ;D (Franco Columbu is a bodybuilder best friend of Ahnuld, and he played the T-800 on the scene where Kyle Reese has a knightmare on T1). There would be a lot of different models of T-800 so they are not recognized. OF COURSE when the T-800 finds it target (a hidden group of humans, for example) he needs to have excellent fighting skills in order to exterminate a whole group by his own. That's why they are so extremely powerdul-built and good with weapons. But only after they have found their target they kill. Infiltration is their main purpose. Yes that's what T3 made up to continue with the franchise. It's ok to me, to continue with franchises is perfectly fine. Yet truth to be told, I even prefer to see T1 as a whole and single, perfect, story. ... T2 is a very excellent extra, meanwhile T3 and TS and all that are quite interesting little easter eggs. But in terms of total coherence, T1 stands perfectly by its own and eveyrhitng else is really unnecessary.
