The Augistina is a nice replica, until you get to the head, which looks cartoonish. I notice that's a trend on recent Sauropods, with maybe the Carnegie Diplo an exception. ( I don't have it yet)
Otherwise the body looks real good.
So why the goofy heads?

( I don't have it yet) Otherwise the body looks real good. So why the goofy heads? The sculptors who make the Procons, whoever they may be, have minimal artistic ability and not an iota of understanding of anatomy. The fact that the body of the Agustinia looks OK is a sheer fluke. Seriously, I'm more shocked that the body is good than I am that the head is bad. Besides this, the head of this species is unknown (?) so they probably made it up. too harsh? I'm not even in a bad mood

No your not harsh at all. That head is atrocious.
The Procon line has a few good pieces, but the rest I would pass on. I guess the question is, if you go to the trouble to produce some of the obscure Dinosaurs, why not produce really goods ones?

On the other hand, it is the best Augustinia figure out there. Kaiyodo, why have you forsaken us!?!?

The head is not pretty. It looks slightly diplodocid and or saltasaurid to me. But the muzzle is too big. And it's just...not as good. But he's a cutie!

I'm looking forward to the deluxe version, but it doesn't look too different, and the head is just as goofy: And the head of the shunosaurus from Procon is even goofier.

Wow! I think you guys are being a bit harsh on your Procon criticism. Yes, we may never find the perfect dinosaur figure at a very affordable price, but how often do we get a new company that puts out an entirely new line of dinosaur figures, many never made before? It's refreshing to finally have some new species of dinosaur figures instead of the same old ones over and over. I happen to like the Procon line and I agree that some are goofy looking, but that's what make them fun figures. [im g][/img]

Only one I have is the Nothy, and I love him!

I have the shunosaurus, and I regret to say it's even ickier than the catalogue pic I'd like the nothronychus, but I am at a loss at what to do with the tail feathers. Perhaps I should buy two of them and practice peeling off the tail feathers on one of them ;D

I think the line is really pick and choose ...I like all the ones I bought...didn't care much for the ones I didn't..lol
I'm wondering, if they went for such rare species what will next year bring ?

Procon is,at least in my opinion,a collection of "hit n' miss"...Up to now i think i'll get only the Olorotitan, the Augustinia, the Rebbachisaurus, maybe the Cryolophosaurus and certainly the Hydroterosaurus

Pretty much my lineup as well...the Olorotitan is nice..as is the Cryo ( re-painted him with the gold eyes and it looks much better )...the Deluxe Augustina was too odd to pass up..lol I also picked up the Deluxe Rex, Deluxe Bary , Lio, Hydro and the BIG Display Rex...which really looked better after a re-paint.

How can you really tell how Augustina looked when all they have is the Vertabrae? And on top of that they originally thought it came from a member of the stegosaur family.

It is a really great figure and sculpt I think.just should have Deluxe sized..something around the size of Carnegie's Corythosaurus.

The Procon Kelenken is a masterpiece. That is the one I want the most from this manufacturer. Along with the Paraceratherium.

Never saw this thread before, but I take it the harsh words over Collecta in the first few posts have died quite a bit, as I see mostly good words about this line these days, and rightly so.
But yeah, that Agustinia's head is pretty lame.
