Cloverfield wasn't an alien tyrannax, he was a deep sea vertibrate. You said that as if aliens aren't vertebrates. What is a "vertibrate" anyway CT? ;D

Yeah, looks like "District 9" could be pretty cool. And from the trailers I've been seeing, he's sticking with an "R" rating. Ohhh yesss!!! Here's it's Official Movie Site. BTW, it has a very cool 360 interactive screen on it! And a game! Will you choose to be a human or alien? www.district9movie.com/I'm also psyched about the upcoming "2012" film coming out in Nov. on Friday the 13th. I know, it's a Roland Emmerich film. But, despite what you think about some of the awkward writing in his films, I think they are always visually awesome, especially on the big screen!! Here's it's Official Movie Site.... www.whowillsurvive2012.com/

Awkward writing? No, it's not like that. His films are just poor. Anyone who receives that much money to produce something so terrible should be locked away. Simple as that.

Hmmm? His films do seem to rake in the big bucks at the box office, win major technical awards, and always attract big main-stream actors as well. I guess there are more than a few others that seem to like them too! ;D

Lots of people seeing a movie does not a good movie make. Same goes for the technical awards, or whoever agrees to play a role in exchange for an truckload of cash.

Dan, Dan, Dan, that response was just too predictable. I never said that those things made a movie good. I said that others must like them too, especially because of the gigantic box office take in. But, I will have to say in my own defense, I really enjoy seeing his flicks on the big screen. They remind me of the old Saturday matinee action movies, but with much, much cooler FX! Anyway, did you check out that site. The visual FX look amazing! And like I said before, I'm really immersing myself in 2012 info. Not that I'm probably going to find out anything new with this film. But, it will be interesting to see what he uses in this story line. I guess I'm just a big kid at heart, when it comes to some of these huge special FX movies on the big screen. I don't go to movies much anymore in NYC. Just too d**n expensive! With two tickets, popcorn, soda, and parking, it's easily 60 bucks or so a pop!! Ugh!!!! I wait for the smaller, better written films to come on HBO and then treat myself to just a few of these huge blockbusters on the big screen. The visuals are just too fun -- like a great roller-coaster ride! Hey, they're just a great escape for me from the intense "suckery" that reality can dish out!!

Sixty dollars? Insanity. I'm glad I live in the middle of redneckville, where overpriced commodities are at least semi-affordable.
I still attribute high box office gross to successful marketing campaigns, not necessarily indicative of what people thought of the film. Otherwise, everyone would have liked his remake of Godzilla. LoL.

I hate it when viewers are overly picky about movies! The new Godzilla was incredible, but because it was different from the Japanese version it is considered poor. Now, if you do want to compare and be overly nerdy, yes, it is utterly different. However, if you push aside those comparative thoughts of negativity and enjoy the movie for what it is you may just be getting somewhere. Now this is especially true of Star Wars geeks. They say they are huge Star Wars fans, but you ask them if they enjoyed the newer versions and they say "No". Well, I have news for you, you're not a Star Wars Fan buddy. Good Lord. There was no previous book before the films to act as a comparative alibi. I loved The Day After Tomorrow, but I suppose that was a poor movie too? ;D

Soooooooo, even though I am a fan of the King Arthur legends, and like Excaliber, I should let it all go and enjoy the pig slop mess that is the new series Merlin, with a 18 year old Arthur a prince in Uther's camelot, "Gwen" having a crush on him, Merlin a teen boy having a crush on Gwen, Morgan le Fay also a teen forming a potential love triangle? The "Great Dragon" held semi-captive below the castle.....OOOOOooooooo. Makes my blood hot just contemplating it.....

The new Godzilla movie is not considered poor just because it's different, but because it sucks terribly: bad acting, terrible plot, awful director, you name it. It was plain stupid and I regret having watched it Emmerich, Boll, Bay and McG should be put out of their mysery.

I agree with all the directors you mentioned, but I confess I enjoyed the Transformers movies. But I also like big fighting robots and stuff so.....

I'm a very, very analytical person, but I just watch movies to enjoy them. I enjoyed the last Godzilla movie, but if it wasn't for Godzilla, I'd probably agree with you. It was just a "Cool" movie to watch. It was at least better than Cloverfield; a movie I got a head ache over. I mean, 30 minutes of partying? Realistic, but boring as hell. You hardly saw the alien as well.
