Hi, Folks
Being a longtime collector, a silent but frequent forum reader here, and an interested writer on replicas such as many of you have, I thought I'd add my voice, via questions to the many more experienced ones I find here.
I am Loren Coleman, author of cryptozoology and Fortean books, blogger at Cryptomundo, and a consultant to television programs such as MonsterQuest.
Perhaps this is TMI, but, heck, I thought some of you might also share in my two large areas of interest: (1) cryptia replicas, and (2) prehistoric mammals.
My collection of dinosaurs and marine reptiles are more limited that what many of you may have, but are, nevertheless, quite useful in talks I give on Mokele-mbembe, Nessie, Champ, and other real and imagined "living dinosaurs." I tend to consider surviving extinct mammals a more realistic option.

Hey Loren, I can't believe it's you I always read cryptomundo and some of your great books. I never miss an episode of Moster Quest. I have a nice bigfoot collection and I do believe in him! Welcome to the forum!
Big Fan, Joe

Welcome to the forum! Your point of view will certainly be a refreshing contribution to our discussions. Looking forward to seeing your collection, even if it´s a small one. This leads me to the question if there are any Mkele Mbembe, Nessie or Bigfoot replicas out there? Or do we have to take mini Brontosaurus, Plesiosaurus or Chewbacca figures instead ;D

I have one of the Mbembes and several 'nessies'. The same sets also have lots of other goodies, like moas, pterosaurs, mosasaurs, megalodons, and even a basilosaurus (good luck with that one). As for bigfoot--yeah Wookies are better.

Wookies beat anything. Except for dinosaurs, maybe.

But Wookies have dog-like faces humanoid faces! We are talking ape-men, not gun wielding teddy bears! ;D

Welcome Loren! By coincidence, I happened to be flicking through a copy of Gould's 'Case for the Sea Serpent' today. Being a plesiosaur specialist I have an almost requisite interest in Nessie and chums. However, I'm quite firmly situated in the sceptics' camp regarding living plesiosaurs as you will gather from my web article, which you may have come across before: www.plesiosauria.com/hoax.htmlGreat to have you around!

Being new here, I was wondering if I did share images of figurines of cryptids such as Sasquatch, Nessie, Champ, Mothman, and such, what topic area would that go under? I don't think this is the correct spot, although I will try my hand at uploading an image, again, below. Also, for those interested, over where I blog, at Cryptomundo.com, you can type in my specially coined term "Replica Cryptia" into the search function there. All my postings on figurines/replicas that relate to cryptozoology can thus be found quickly. Some, you will find, are ones near and dear to your hearts already, because we cryptozoologists have to use prehistoric mammals, dinos, and other replicas to make our points, sometimes. Few companies sell cryptids as a set, although 2009 saw one of the first ones ever. The set above includes a Bigfoot (Sasquatch), a Nessie (resembling a classic Sea Serpent), a Mothman, a Chupacabras, and a Jersey Devil. But they are hardly as good as the representations I see here from you guys, that's for sure! I frequently bemoan, over at Cryptomundo, the fact that companies like Papo, Bullyland, Schleich, and Safara, Ltd. haven't produced high quality figurines of cryptids. There's always hope for tomorrow.
