Buzzards must attack humans more than any other bird, though.

Blown out of proportion by the press again... If the buzzards had sincerly attacked they would have been injured far worse than that. Believe me, as a falconer I know these injuries are nothing. Wait until you're grabbed in earnest by one of these birds!
These animals probably had their nests nearby and their instinct tells them to chase away intruders. Whether they are humans or other animals.
We had a similar situation near our town, a common buzzard "attacked" three people, including a motorcycle cop who fell off his bike because he was afraid the buzzard would hurt him! (he was wearing leather clothes and a helmet) The newspaper ran a similar story to this one, people wrote letters to the papers; the nest had to be removed, shoot them etc. etc.
Signs were put up near the nestsite and people avoided the area. But three days later, someone cut down the tree with the nest in it, killing the three chicks. But that was never mentioned in the press....
