This is in no way part of my illustration series but its cool so I thought I would show you guys. It was the image that went along with an online invitation I sent out for one of my parties at my apartment. Thats supposed to be me there with a Triceratops and....a melon. It had to do with the theme of the party. haha

here's another one. Testing out my watermark. I trust everyone here though. Alpertanychus and Hesperonychus. Two tiny dinosaurs from the Campanian. They are relatively new discoveries.

You really should be a coloring book artist. A coloring book full of accurate dinos! Awesome....

but I like coloring them myself! Its half the fun! Get ready, here comes the bigginning of wave two. Enjoy. Allosaurus scaring off a lone Ceratosaurus from a young Apatosaurus kill. Poor Smilodon gets a kick in the face while failing to hunt an Equus Scotti Gorgonopsid Hadrosaurus and Dryptosaurus. Both from my home, NJ. Gotta Represent. Hopefully this image will be used in the Rutgers Geology Museum for their hadrosaur fossils. These are the first of many to come.

Fantastic images once again. However, please make sure your theropod hands aren't turned palm-down, as it is the consensus that this was physically impossible for most of them. You know, until another study is published that refutes that study. It wouldn't be niggling me so if the images weren't otherwise so wonderful!

Fantastic images once again. However, please make sure your theropod hands aren't turned palm-down, as it is the consensus that this was physically impossible for most of them. You know, until another study is published that refutes that study. It wouldn't be niggling me so if the images weren't otherwise so wonderful! Which one of my therapods palms are down? I'm looking at them and they all look ok to me. I always keep that in mind when I draw them. The allos are good. My cerato's hands are too tiny to really tell anyway but trust me I remembered. Drypto's torso is kind of angled to the side a bit so it may appear his writs is broken but its not. The reason I did that was to show that he had 3 fingers. If you look at his other hand you can see it is angled correctly. Looking through my whole collection the only one who's wrists are truly wrong is Albertosaurus, pictured with the Paras. It was actually the first illustration I ever did. Unfortunately it just got watermarked by my friend this morning so I really don't want to go back and change that one thing and ask her to do it again. To me one tiny mistake is a pretty decent track record. I may fix it in the future. Most of these images were inspected by my professor who is a paleontologist first so for the most part they are accurate although sometimes even professionals make mistakes. Appreciate your input though just the same. Thanks! Also thank you sid, glad you like them as well. Lots more to come.

Drypto and Cerato were the ones I thought of, although I did feel a bit anal for pointing it out in the first place. Now that I look at them again, Drypto at least seems right as you say. With Cerato it's hard to tell...not that it matters! Brilliant drawings, keep up the good work!

I really like the utahraptor Do you color with colored pencils?

Post by Griffin on Sept 12, 2009 19:33:17 GMT
Yes. These are first sketched lightly with a mechanical pencil. Once I feel the dino shapes are good, I go over it again with the pencil only darker, but no shading. Then I color them with colored pencils. I also do the background with just colored pencils so the dinos will pop more. After all the color is on there, I go over it again with the mechanical pencil and apply shading and small detail. Glad you like.

excuse me, but I think all of your drawings are too cartoonish Apart from being rude i also don't think you understand that this is Griffin's style and they all look the way he wanted them to look. IMO they are very good.
