Well shouldn't it be? Cryolophosaurus was merely half the length of the big boys, putting him only slightly larger than the Dilophosaurus pair.

Hey, Tyrannax, you beat me to it! Well, the Cryolophosaurus has a length somewhere in the 20-26 feet range. That would put him a little bigger than the Dilopho and about the size of a Cerato or Carno. Those current figures are somewhere in the 6-7" ranges. So, I'm guessing that's about where the Cryolopho will end up. And, weren't we told that the new Ichthyo was about 6"? So, they're both gonna be in the small to medium small figure range. Not tiny, but def not very big. So, even with a possible increase in price, I still bet they're both gonna be just under or right around $10 each. I got this year's Dilopho for $8.49 at TGFToys. So, they could add another buck on the Crolopho. I'd be really surprised if they were alot more than $10!

Don't give your hopes up, the Spinosaurus is being sold for a price far above what it should be. At least they're confident, yeah? 10 dollars sounds perfect for the size of the figure. We can only wait and see I suppose.

Remember those are WS prices. The Carnegie tylo was a little more in price too. I bet 15 to 20 for the figs, depending on the seller.

I'm going to guess at a $14+ price for them, but that is just a guess. The colours on these two are very nice, but still very Carnegie. IMO last years Tylo was better than the Ichthyo, but that's just opinion. Also know I didn't see the sculpts in person painted, I only saw photos.

Has the new rumored Carnegie Ichthyo's image been posted anywhere?

Not that I have seen on here. One might expect it to look similar to the WS toob one, but with open jaws with an ammonite in them, apparently.

So how are they all the way closed if there's an ammonite in them?

Did he really say there was an ammonite in its jaws? Perhaps he meant close nearby.

The ammonites tentacles are in the mouth not the shell. The shell is hanging off to the side of the jaws.

Oooh, so semi-pulverized, then? I can't wait to see this fella. Shouldn't be long now, luckily.

Found it! Another future replica to ponder? More breaking news? So, the new rumored Safari Ltd's 2010 Carnegie Ichthyosaurus is said to have a "closed jaw" and reportedly an "ammonite's tentacles are in the mouth (of the Ichthyosaurus') not the (ammonite's) shell. The shell is hanging off to the side of the ( Ichthyosaurus') jaws." I think I discovered what it's going to look like. And perhaps I've also figured out something about a baby Ichthyosaurus matched to it. See here: www.cryptomundo.com/cryptozoo-news/ichthyo-2010/

Why did you mention lionfish in that blog post, Loren?
|
|
|
Post by crypto1 on Sept 16, 2009 17:38:34 GMT
Kuni, I mentioned "lionfish" because they are dangerous, venomous, and I am a writer. I wasn't going to say "lions, tigers, and bears" when talking about marine replicas, so I wrote "lionfish, tiger sharks, Ichthyosaurus, giant squids, and coelacanths" as a literary device.

That looks fairly close to the mold, although I can spot a few differences (I want to say the ammonite may be a tad larger on the piece). Also, the paint job will be similar to that of the painting, but once again not to the tee. (see my other post going in detail).
