Okay, so after looking at the winner option of my older thread that included a poll on which species I was going to sculpt next, I decided on a completely different species entirely. I'll be spending some time up in LA, so this will be a nice project to keep myself busy with. It is a theropod, and i've decided to either sculpt it in 1:30 or 1:20 scale. I whipped up a quick doodle concept of the pose I'm fond of. Keep in mind the doodle represents a generic theropod, and does not necessarily reflect the animal's individual body. I'll leave the name up to you. Cudos if you can guess the theropod. ;D

Surely it's some kind of big allosaur? Like, er, a big Allosaurus? It does appear to have the little horn in front of each eye, but the body's a bit bulky...

Yeah I'm going to go with some allosaur. Or maybe a torvosaurus?

Okay, I'll let a few members guess a specific species before I announce the winner(s). Horridus, any specific species in mind? Griffin, you guess Torvosaurus?

Yeah put me down for Torvo.

Right, well, it's seriously hard to guess, but...It has a crest in front of each eye, short three-fingered forelimbs with one digit and claw notably larger than the rest, and long thighs. You know what, d**nit, I'm going to say Torvosaurus too. Even though the crests/horns are rather prominent, it's just too much of a fatty to be an allosaur, and Torvosaurus was robust. So yeah. But Griffin gets the credit if we're right, of course.

Or Australovenator or Suchomimus a la Chap Mei.

Having said what I said, it doesn't half remind me of that old John Sibbick illustration of Allosaurus, for some reason...maybe put me down for Epanterias?

;D What about the other two sculpts you started. Are you going to keep starting new sculpts and never finish anything?

No, he's going to keep starting sculpts and then tell us about how they're coming along and never post pictures of them ;D

Okay, so we have: Griffin: Torvosaurus Horridus: Epanterias (Suspicious that it is Torvosaurus as well) Megaraptor: (Suspicious of Eustreptospondylus, Saurophaganax, Australovenator and Suchomimus, but has not chosen one specifically) I wish I could finish up my Tyrannosaurus sculptures, but they're 1400 miles south of me, and I have no method of transport that won't destroy them in the process. Besides, this project will be much more interesting. So what will it be stoneage and Cordy? Any idea what it is?

Allosaurus. Arms aren't long enough for Torvosaurus.

I think you mean they are too short. And I will cut Suchomimus from my list. I wasn't actually saying it WAS suchomimus, I was saying it looked like my Dino Valley Suchomimus.
