Well, 3 years ago I built these two guys; last year I put them on a base; and this Summer during my vacation I managed to put together a little stuff around them to make a fairly huge dinosaur diorama.
A couple of words about the materials used; the sand is actual beach sand, and the grass is from model railroading supplies secured by spray glue.
The rocks are real rocks from my garden; the top of the palm is one of those Christmas decoration palms from Michaels - styrofoam inside that the branches fit into - I used branches from two trees for this one. The actual trunk of the tree is a young Laurel tree shoot that I snipped in the garden...securing it with wires and glue to the wood and to the crown of the tree, I painted it brown.
Oh, and the glue used to secure the rocks and the tree is - Gorilla glue, of course. I've found that for major heavy jobs there is no better glue.
On the Trex - I just straightened out the arms, shortened and curled the tip of the tail the other way, and moved the angle of the neck back to the right by about 3 inches - it was too extreme in the original. The Triceratops was also heavily modified as you can probably tell - the legs were all repositioned. Having the front legs in the air also makes it look more dynamic.
(Oh yes - that's WWE's "Mr. Kennedy" dodging around the dancing behemoths in two of the photos. He's dressed in his JP garb. Helps to put the scale in perspective. "Mr. Kennedy" is an 8" tall action figure.)
