Tonight I had some time in between other things and I made an armature for an Apatosaurus and got the clay roughed in-it measures 23 inches in length- it came out of making the carcass forthe Allosaurus pack- I had to project an Apatosaurus to make the carcass and just went ahead and made an armature at that time for a full figureas well- I decided to make it rearing up in the tripod pose and it will come with a tree that it is eating out of to explain the rearing pose a bit more- I will post photos in the near future-

So here is the armature with some clay smeared on it- still in a REAL rough state, butthought you might like to see it- not too sure about the validity of the rearing sauropod- but since the Battat diplo is out of production as is the WS Apatosaurus it might be niceto offer a rearing sauropod-

And if you need ideas for a colour scheme, why not have greyish-black/brown with brown, tan and light yellow running horizontally across where the vertebrae would be.

I'm looking forward to seeing this develop. As bokisaurus said, whether it was possible or not, rearing sauropods make the most impressive figures. (There's one in particular that's very popular among the collector community...that's right, Wild Safari Apatosaurus.

So when I moved recently, the rearing Apatosaurus was a casualty- most of the unfinished sculpts at the time were scrapped, clay removed from the armatures and those were then tossed- decided to do another 1/40 Apatosaurus recently, it is in the roughed in stage right now ready to start detailing, but I wanted to catch this thread up by posting these photos I took ofthe armature- more recent photos will be coming soon for this piece-

Apatosaurus ajax- started off with a Scott Hartman skeletal drawing - I sort of want to also do A. exclsus and A. louisae too, it would be cool to compare the proportions of the three

That is one lovely Apato! Love the graceful pose, very nice. I'm sure this one won't be cheap! ;D Looking forward to the finished model.
