The Marx Iguanodon was never copied by other toy makers. In spite of it's posture it is still a decent reconstruction.

Here we have the revised Tyrannosaurus which replaced the Pot Bellied figure. Some early sets included both versions. I always liked the Pot Bellied version better in spite of its inaccuracies.

Marx Struthlomimus was probably the first small bird like theropod. In spite of the tripod pose, still a good reconstruction.

Starlux Drepanaspis 1983 I used to have this. I never knew what it was, thanks Used to? I hope you still do--it's one of the most valuable of the Starlux figures (second, maybe, to the Cephalaspis and Brachiopod).

I'd really like to get my hands on the Cephalaspis!

Personally, I don't think much about the Marx figures; I like the current small, detailed toob figures that are coming out now.
But I really like the landscapes, and it would be nice to see ones of equal quality be used by a current company for playsets. It's one thing to have cool dinos, but it's even better to have something to play with them on (or, display them). Currently, the closest you might find are the various landscapes from Playmobil.

I really like the Marx figures, some more then others. I think they were the best figures of their day. They are better then SRG or Sinclair. I really like the Miller figures but they are way too expensive. Landscape and good backdrops would be great for displaying figures. Remember the Favorite Georamas, nice but not at $200 a pop. Of course all different sizes would be needed to match different scales. I think Dinonikes once talked about doing some Carboniferous stuff at one time. And I don't really like the Playmobile stuff. It has potential but a little too cartoonie. Also who wants to pay for a bunch of baby toys just to get some trees and terrain etc., it's just not practical.

For those of us with smaller children though, they make it easy! And I don't find them so much cartoony as...smooth? A little too clean-cut, perhaps. But put enough of the rock work and plants together, and it's surprising how good it looks. I think I may have a project with the kids for tonight! ;D

Agree also about their being more 'smooth' than cartoony. Perhaps 'stylised' might serve as a description. In any case, whatever they may be, the critical implication of 'who wants to pay for a bunch of baby toys' is perhaps misplaced, given that many people probably already think this of us for buying dinosaurs. ;D
