lso, Al. Only posting positive comments is close to censorship. I do think there is a place for critique, I am just not sure this is it. ANd, I may be a little more crabby today. But, I do feel we are harping on details of pieces that have been extensively reviewed. I just think we are wanting our cake and eat it too. We want pristine, wonderfully detailed and intricate little models, at a nice size for toy prices. I just don't know. YES, papo is doing it but for one, they are a major company with productionresources and budgets, and secondly, they are not getting the anatomy or detail right. I does no good to say wow! Lookit that detail when itr is wrong. And we are quick to jump on that elsewhere, so don't even try to sat we don't.
Resin would hold detail better, I suspect, but will increase the cost. I'd bet the prices Malcolm charges only barely covers production cost for material etc. Not the labor involved. I bet he makes little to no profit from these. Consider, he designs, then sculpts then makes the mold, casts the piece, cleans up the piece, primes, paints it--by hand--then gets it ready and ships it out. All himself. One at a time, for every piece. He should be getting way more money, but he wants them to be obtainable. He might be able to refine them, cast them in resin. Charge twice the price. But then, who here would be able to collect tehm.
All I am suggesting is that we be realistic in the reviews, and try to keep in mind what they are intended to be, darn nice toys.
