I really admire you detail nerds! Wonderful painting on a wonderful sculpt. Thanks, Stefan! It is less difficult than I thought but it takes patience. And definitely magnifying glasses for these minis. Yesterday I finished the "1:144" shapeways Giganotosaurus by David Krentz (original material was "Frosted Ultra Detail"). I still have to learn in this painting processes, I should have probably used less fixative because in the end it turned out a little glossier than I wanted. Anyways, here it is: The blue colour on the nasal crests was made with soft pastels.

What? No figures of extinct animal figures this time? ;D Nope, sorry. But hey, I just received some figures as a prize for winning Safari Ltd.'s Shark Week Photo Contest on facebook. So there: Thanks to all who supported my contribution! And currently I'm painting the Paleocraft Indricotherium, almost done. So next time there will be photos of extinct animal models again.

Thanks, Helge! The Paleocraft model was the main reason for me to get Tristan Bethe's shapeways grandpa, by the way. Hans is a bit jealous now... ;D

I've painted David Krentz's 1/72 shapeways Andesaurus (WSF):

The smallest model I've ever painted... David Krentz's shapeways "1:144" Ankylosaurus. The model was originally in "Transparent Detail", length 62 mm. EDIT: I should have said "the smallest shapeways model I've ever painted". The tiny Archaeopteryx models from the Tamiya Dinosaur Dioramas are so small that I've simply forgotten them...

(Belated) thanks Helge, Stefan & bowheadwhale! One more Paleocraft (Platybelodon) and one more Krentz mini (Edmontosaurus) still await painting... I hope I'll find the time to paint these ones within the next few days.

Are those something else from some obscure Japanese seller?

Thanks all! With their rather small second toe claws they remind me of troodontids. Are those something else from some obscure Japanese seller? I didn't buy them together. I bought the one on the left separately, the other three were part of a complete Animatales 4 set. And I got all of them from Japanese sellers but not via ebay - LOL I just realized that I could have bought the quartet from a certain Hong Kong ebay seller for a "mere" $480 plus shipping! ;D

I cannot tell you how envious I am... ;D You just did! Ah, not quite. I merely expressed that I was envious, but the extent of it (hence the ' how envious') is impossible to convey. ;D
