Wow, bolesey! You have this animal - I don´t. I already held it in my hand but as you might have read the school where I found it won´t give it away. I guess if I asked the Tsintaosaurus to go with me it would say no - or would you leave such a good assemblage (see picture). I just sent a question concerning this very animal to the woman in charge of the museumshop in Basel, Switzerland. Do they still have it in stock? Would they send it to Germany? I can´t wait to get her answer. Seems my confusion decreases the more my research goes on. Just steal it

Steal it? It´s not that I didn´t think about it yet. But we dinolovers are honest people, aren´t we? And the biology teacher is my best friend, so why betray on him? I think there are other way to get this Invicta style Tsintaosaurus. By the way, I am very happy that Invictas are used to teach Mesozoic stuff for the usual way dinosaurs are treat at school is they are being laughed at and not being taken seriously. To my mind this is a wasted chance.

I know of course But I must admit I could hardly withstand the temptation. Am I evil?

The fog is clearing up. Just received the answer from the Basel Natural History Museum staff member that the animal is still in stock. I immediately ordered one And by the way: It is a Tsintaosaurus spinorhinus! Thanks for all your help! Since Invicta probably won´t release any dinosaur anymore, I am looking forward to getting this at least "inofficial Invicta dinosaur" When the blue whale will have arrived and my Tsintaosaurus too, I will promptly take a picture to share my Invicta - proud with you. At least the "unpainted" ones *thinks about hunting the painted ones as well*

Cool - so who makes it? Are there others in the series?

I could not find that out yet. When I give the museum staff member my address for ordering that Tsintaosaurus I will not forget asking. But didn´t bolesey write Thanks for the welcome No packaging, it was loose. I believe they had a few other figures from different makers, but this was the only one reminiscent of Invicta. They may have had some actual Invicta figures as well, but memory is fuzzy on that one. It seems to me the museum didn´t specialise in a certain brand or line. But the manufacturer of that Tsintaosaurus will probably remain a mystery nevertheless, since there is no imprint on it. I assume it is a Chinasaurus, but I will consult Mrs. Müller on that matter, too.

That Tsintaosaurus does go rather will alongside the invicta figures!
I have the ROM's and knock offs, but am missing the stenoptergis and the parasaur. They are neat figures, more like marx style figures then the invictas though IMHO.

The Parasaurolophus does have a much better pose then any of the Marx Dinosaurs. Its head crest isn't webbed either.

This is the definite solution to all the riddles concerning that strange Invicta - style Tsintaosaurus: Here is the translation of the Email Mrs. Müller wrote me concerning the Tsintaosaurus. You can´t imagine how I am looking forward to having my one one So we at last know the chief preparator had very good examples with the Invictas. That´s highly visible. "Dear Mr. Schröder, the Tsintao is on its way... We had this model made more than 15 years ago on the occasion of our special exhibition "Dinosaurs from China" after an example manufactured by our chief preparator. Those black models did not sell well in our shop - too big was the competition with the colourfully, if not very correctly manufactured ones. We only have this Tsintaosaurus spinorhina, who obviously is a characteristic among the chinese dinosaurs. We hope that these declarations help you. Yours sincerely, Renate Müller" For the German speaking members and guest here´s the original Email: Sehr geehrter Herr Schröder Der Tsintao ist jetzt auf Reisen...

Wow... Mystery solved! I'm glad my information helped you in your quest for the answer. I was only half sure with hazy recollections... after a while one museum blends into another.
I had no idea the Basel museum actually produced the model, and it really takes me by surprise that this information and the toy itself is still available these years later. I hope you enjoy the figure, the extra background information certainly adds to my appreciation of the it.
Now I'm curious if they had the model manufactured by Invicta or elsewhere. I suppose it would say if it was Invicta.
This is all news to me as I've been sorta busy this past week.

Can´t find out about the meaning of this pics in this thread either, maybe radman wanted to test how to place pics here in a relatively old thread?

;D Can´t find out about the meaning of this pics in this thread either, maybe radman wanted to test how to place pics here in a relatively old thread? I should have posted these to the Tsintao original review, in the first sentence Libra states: "Stefan Schröder (alias Libraraptor) Tsintaosaurus is a dinosaur that has not been reconstructed as a figure very often. To be honest, I do not even know of one company that has produced it, maybe our readers know more?" So I was just trying to show another Tsintao exists. Hey, it was my first post!

Alright, that makes more sense--I went ahead and modified your post so that all of the pics are together, though. And welcome to the forum!

Thanks, Theri. This forum is fun; my wife and friends just roll their eyes when I mention my dinos - nice to know there are others out there with the same interests!
