Gentlemen, all this is simply too much torture for little me, you do realise? ;D Yes, we do. It's one of this (and pretty much all other) thread's main purposes, to infect as many others as possible with this incurable disease so that they are all condemned to share our sad fate! ;D And sbell, I can't figure out how the Eagle Ray could stand without a bottle cap. So I guess the bases are different? In the one I have, the tip of the pectoral fin comes out on the other side so that it wouldn't stand good without the bottle cap. And considering reusage of figures, I just held my Aquatales Whale Shark next to postsaurischian's photo and I'm convinced now, that these are identical, too. Every single white dot of the colouration is apparently the same! Only the bases are different. Well, the ray has a two part bottle cap; a sculpted top part, and a part that would fit onto a bottlecap.

Only the bases are different. Sorry, my mistake Let me straighten this out. I used the Shinagawa base for the Aquatales figure because I like it better than its original one. On the other hand I prefer the Aquatales figure's pose. Pic 2 & 3 show the Shinagawa Aquarium Whale Shark.

Ah, okay, that makes sense. So it actually was the Aquatales Whale Shark. I have just opened my new Colorata Fossil Fish and Salt-Water Fish boxes which arrived today, they're great. No, they're even better - they're SALTHYINGER! ;D On the other hand my five year old son started to cry because he wants his own Colorata boxes. I gave him a Safari WS Dinos Coelacanth as a present, luckily I had a spare one. Right at the moment he is making his own sort of Colorata box from cardboard and everything is fine again...

Poor little boy . I would have gone mad if my father would have had figures like this back then! Can't wait to see pics of the Fossil Fish ;D.

:)Well, then ;D: Latimeria chalumnae J.L.B. Smith, 1938; Coelacanth. Colorata Endangered Species - Fossil Fish No. 1. Length 100 mm. Acipenser sinensis Gray, 1835; Chinese Sturgeon. Colorata Endangered Species - Fossil Fish No. 2. Length 106 mm. Neoceratodus forsteri (Krefft, 1870); Queensland Lungfish. Colorata Endangered Species - Fossil Fish No. 3. Length 80 mm. Arapaima gigas (Schinz, 1822); Pirarucú. Colorata Endangered Species - Fossil Fish No. 4. Length 117 mm. Scleropages aureus Pouyaud, Sudarto & Teugels, 2003 ( S. formosus has been split into several species recently); Asian Arowana. Colorata Endangered Species - Fossil Fish No. 5. Length 69 mm. Pangasianodon (syn. Pangasius) gigas Chevey, 1931; Mekong Giant Catfish. Colorata Endangered Species - Fossil Fish No. 6. Length 81 mm. And of course this one: Latimeria menadoensis Pouyaud et al., 1999; Indonesia Coelacanth. The colour matches more Latimeria chalumnae. Colorata Endangered Species Museum Model. Length 148 mm. At first I thought I didn't need yet another coelacanth but I am really glad that I ordered this one, too. It's really worth the higher price.

Aww, poor little chap...
I recently got the fossil fish set too, but hadn't had time to photograph it. I haven't found the salt-water set yet though.

Wonderful shots of the Fossil Fish set! The Colorata boxes reawaken my passion for Fish figures. Great Indonesian Coelacanth - I especially like the few sharp teeth on this model, which can clearly be seen in your shot, brontodocus. (BTW: That Krentz Apato looks brilliant!!)

Ah, thank you so much for the links, Dr. Andre! I also never use flash when photographing; but I do use my daylight simulation desklamp. (BTW: That Krentz Apato looks brilliant!!) Indeed it does. I mentioned that before on another thread, but I may as well say it again. ;D

Thanks postsaurischian and Himmapaan And although I like the Discover Dinosaurs boxes and never regret having bought them I must say I like the Salt-Water and Fossil Fish boxes even more. Especially the Salt-Water Fish box with the exceptional Tuna and Marlin is wonderful.

Hi there, postsaurischian suggested that I should post the photos of the new Colorata DX sharks. Well then, here we go. Enjoy! No. 1: Rhincodon typus Smith, 1828; Whale Shark. Length 150 mm, scale approx. 1:29 - 1:84. Human figure is 1:87 scale. No. 2: Cetorhinus maximus (Gunnerus, 1765); Basking Shark. Length 123 mm, scale approx. 1:41 - 1:80. No. 3: Megachasma pelagios Taylor, Compagno & Struhsaker, 1983; Megamouth Shark. Length 114 mm, scale approx. 1:47 - 1:48. Human figure is 1:50 scale. No. 4: Carcharodon carcharias (Linnaeus, 1758); Great White Shark. Length 128 mm, scale approx. 1:34 - 1:62. Human figure is 1:50 scale. No. 5: Carcharhinus leucas (Müller & Henle, 1839); Bull Shark. Length 109 mm, scale approx. 1:17 - 1:32. No. 6: Galeocerdo cuvier (Péron & Lesueur, 1822); Tiger Shark. Length 118 mm, scale approx. 1:21 - 1:63. Human figure is 1:50 scale. No. 7: Chlamydoselachus anguineus Garman, 1884; Frilled Shark. Length 86 mm, scale approx. 1:16 - 1:23. Human figure is 1:22 - 1:24 scale. No. 8: Mitsukurina owstoni Jordan, 1898; Goblin Shark. Length 107 mm, scale approx. 1:19 - 1:58. Human figure is 1:35 scale. No. 9: Isistius brasiliensis (Quoy & Gaimard, 1824); Cookiecutter Shark. Length 61 mm, scale approx. 1:6 - 1:9. The body surface of No. 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 has a grainy texture which appears a little too rough especially in the Great White, Bull, and Tiger Shark. Figures 1-3 are the plancton feeders with a light blue base, figures 4-6 are the "normal" predatory sharks with a medium blue base, and figures 7-9 are the deep-sea dwellers with a dark blue base, respectively. The bases for the plancton feeders and predatory sharks include a thicker supporting rod that ends in a ball to allow the figure to pivot as desired.

Awesome collections you guys! I want that Colorata shark dx set. Andre where did you buy them from? I didn't buy them directly. Someone organized them for me for which I'm very thankful. The ebay seller koichin2006 sometimes has them but they're expensive (they are also the most expensive of the Colorata boxes on Colorata's website). The skin textures look really nice on those..so diff from the norm. I appreciate that, too, of course. It could have been done a little smoother though, I think. Still this cannot diminish the awesomeness of this set. And since NekoWorks doesn't make a Cookiecutter Shark anymore where else would we get one (other than using yourself as bait for a real one - ouch ;D)?
