*gigglesnort* Even that "HAha" somehow sounds refined in your handwriting! (Seriously: Book. Now.(I know, I know, deadlines, money, etc. Tell me again why it's fair that there's so much more money in sports than in art?))

That money is what we pay to keep all the brainless masses occupied so the rest of the world doesn't have to worry about them...it's like babysitting ( If it's not obvious..I'm not a sports fan.. ;D )

;D ;D Thank you both again! I thought I might sneak in this work-related piece. It is not a dinosaur (boo), but I was up til past 4am this morning painting it and I am peculiarly pleased with how it has so far turned out (long, dull, and potentially eyeroll-worthy story about undergoing some crisis of confidence...).

*thud* Ow, I need to wear a helmet before checking this thread...
Just gorgeous as usual! The thing about your illustrations is that you can tell how everything - every blade of grass, rock, lock of hair - is just right, there are no random squiggles and everything just adds to the completeness of the piece.

The horse is astounding Himmapaan, and the rider and the scenery. Are you going to paint in the background or leave it bare?

Thank you, folks! OMG steampunk dinosaurs. Brilliant. It was the image which entered my head when I squished the names 'Apatosaurus' and 'Brontosaurus' together to form 'Aprontosaurus'. ;D The horse is astounding Himmapaan, and the rider and the scenery. Are you going to paint in the background or leave it bare? The background is being painted in as we speak. This is also just a section, the piece itself is much taller and there is a little more towards the bottom too. *thud* Ow, I need to wear a helmet before checking this thread... Just gorgeous as usual! The thing about your illustrations is that you can tell how everything - every blade of grass, rock, lock of hair - is just right, there are no random squiggles and everything just adds to the completeness of the piece. The roughs and sundry other preparatory drawings all have an abundance of sketchiness and stray bits, of course. I wish I had more courage to allow some of that spontaneity into the final pieces too, and not labour and over-refine them too much. They might have more life and I might even work a little faster. I'm still trying to work on that.

Excellent and very classy. You should make a Dinotopia-like book with your own story!

Thank you, Arioch. Two saurian cameo appearances. The whole drawing, if anyone is interested.

Amazing! are those gnomes or just human midgets? Those and the two dinos are quite remarkable...
Really love your style man. Combining victorian/renaissance aeshetics and dinosaurs is a total win in my book, you nailed it.
By the way right now I´m sketching a sauropod sort of following your style (with my considerable limitations). Lot of wrinkles and just some scales. It really works. I´ll post it very soon.

Heh heh ! It's funny seeing a Protoceratops and a Velociraptor in such close proximity without attacking each other.. lol
I also like the little mermaid..reminds a bit of the design that will show up in the new Pirates film.

Should be in an old story book...that somehow defies time by having dinosaurs accurate to 2011!
Love it.

Thank you all! They're small persons of no specific category; will that do? ;D Perhaps they might be elfin in some manner... But 'midget' is impolite to call anyone by, Mr Arioch! ;D I've just seen your wonderful Alamosaurus, by the way; I love it! Heh heh ! It's funny seeing a Protoceratops and a Velociraptor in such close proximity without attacking each other.. lol I also like the little mermaid..reminds a bit of the design that will show up in the new Pirates film. How typical of me: concord between creatures, haha. That's interesting about the mermaid!

I have been known to act as Father Christmas' envoy on occasions. ;D Thank you for the mermaid image! I don't seem to have drawn many mermaids, surprisingly enough; but here's a sketch from several years ago that I'm rather fond of.
