... it's like a wolf vs said geese..yeah it's going to get bit and harassed..but if hungry enough it still might make off with one if they fight. Better to use those long legs to haul tail and out run the slower tyrannosaur...or so I believe.. If it was the first time it happened the the tyrannosaur, like it's a younger individual then it might get a little spooked and run away instead. I don't disagree at all. You are right, anything could happen and you are free to imagine the outcome. ;D ;D When did Albertosaurus get a mane? Before the camel got its hump, at any rate. Thank you all.

Wow! Did you base that in some pilsators comment, maybe? Love the Albertosaurus scene. I was going to say that maybe the alberto horns look too allosaurus like instead of pointing more forward, but since we dont know what kind of keratin covering they had pointing that out would be actually quite pointless...so, nevermind. The way you achieve such convincing textures with relatively few details keeps amazing me!

Thank you, Arioch! Believe it or not, I had already been thinking along similar lines when I read Pilsator's thoughts on the same theme. Most of us tend to reach similar conclusions independently; it's hard to come up with something original, huh? ;D
Yes, I'm not entirely comfortable with those horns myself; I mentioned it on my blog entry too. Again, it's another of those lines to tread between being conservative or more exploratory within the possibilities. But I would definitely watch those in future.

Something serious... A group of Ornithomimus edmontonicus fend off an Albertosaurus sarchophagus by mobbing it. Wow, amazing Niroot! Of course, your illustrations are all gorgeous, but I'm constantly astounded at how much motion and expression you capture in your art. That is so hard to do, judging from how few can accomplish such a thing (I know I certainly cannot). I just have not had any time in the last 6 weeks to visit this forum, and am very excited to search back through and see what amazing things I've missed from all of the talented people here. Of course, I had to start with your thread, but will be checking others soon. Can't wait to see what Arioch, Krentz, Foulkes, Malcolm and others have created while I was away!

I'm very late with my reply, but thank you so much, Curt! What have you been up to lately? Haven't seen you around for awhile. I've been away visiting Chiang Mai and other provinces in northern Thailand. I met with so much kindness everywhere and had a wonderful time. The return to reality is hitting me rather hard, especially as I so seldom get to go away anywhere. *Sad smile* Boki, thank you. And I would thoroughly approve of prey fighting back in toy form.

Yet another (not very good) T. rex. This one was drawn relatively quickly to serve as a colour study to paint on a model.

Haha- no. This is an extremely accurate and detailed Tyrannosaurus. To be honest, it's one of my favorites I've ever seen.

O.o I don't think it's one of my favourites, but it serves its purpose. I think the Albertosaurus above and the Tarbosaurus studies (somewhere a few pages back) are superior tyrannosaurs in general.

Thank you, guys. Boki, I will try more ceratopsians. I'm nervous because I tend to regard them as Chris D's territory. ;D I did swear to leave off theropods (modern ones excluded) for a while. I returned to this one rather out of necessity. I've been wanting to do more ornithischians and have an Ouranosaurus in progress. It's been like that for over a month... ¬_¬

Oh please! All dinosaurs are everyone's territory! I would love to see more ceratopsids from you! I have your illustration of my triceratops hanging infront of my desk!

Haha, I know; I was just joking. Actually, now you mention your Triceratops portrait, I'd actually been hoping to re-do the illustration of when we met at the NHM. I seem to have developed an increasing dislike towards the old one for some reason...
