As if it weren't enough to collect all these Dinosaur gems, I'm falling more and more in love with non-prehistoric Animal figures . Especially with mammals that have been badly neglected in my collection so far. I have no idea what brands and figures have been existing during the last decades, so I'm starting randomly with figures that look good to me. Of course the Papo cats quickly aroused my attention ..... The cats are pretty good in scale to each other . Lioness & Kaiyodo Red-crowned Crane ..... Tiger & Kaiyodo Golden Eagle ..... Jaguar & Puma ..... I have the feeling that it's even more difficult to find different species in the same scale than it is with the Dinosaurs. But that's part of the fun, isn't it ? Looking for an Elephant, I followed brontodocus' advice and got me the Safari Wildlife Wonders Asian Elephant, really a well done sculpt Cheetah, Kaiyodo Crested Ibis & Safari Asian Elephant ..... No doubt about what hippo and what crocodile I had to choose ;D. Papo Hippopotamus & Nile Crocodile ..... Papo Komodo Dragon & Kaiyodo Amami Rabbit ..... Hm, besides Kaiyodo, Papo seems to evolve into my favourite "modern animals brand". To all of you rabbit lovers - Have no fear, the scene above is very unlikely to happen, since the Komodo Dragon only lives on Komodo Islands and the Amami Rabbit only lives on two of the Ryu Kyu Islands - so they probably never meet each other ;D.

So far, I have all those Papo big cats you have, except the puma; and the Nile crocodile, which is just beautiful. I also agree about their being one of my ' favourite modern animals' brands. ;D I want your Kaiyodo birds. ;D

Isn't it like 4AM where you are? Do you have insomnia or are just a night-owl?

Here's something funny--while you are edging into modern animals, I am slowly receding from them (except, I'll still pick and choose from Japanese small figures).
I really just don't have room to display them, and most of it is very old Schleich, so I don't want to give them to the kids as toys, and yet just storing them in a box seems like a waste, so someday I'll find them new homes; that's why I now prefer new Safari figures--nearly as good, without the guilt aspect.

Thank you so much for the link! I'm going to have to forgo any for a good while. They certainly aren't cheap. But I've saved the seller.

They're all wonderful, but I'm especially taken with the Papo kudu and of course the Kaiyodo bongo. Gorgeous.
I've been keeping my eye on that ostrich and the male one on eBay too.

Very beautiful display, as always, postsaurischian! Have you exchanged the base of the Kaiyodo sailfish? I thought that's the jumping one I have.

Thanks, brontodocus Yes, I used the Golden Eagle's base for the sailfish because I wanted it to swim more sideways for the pic.

*Drool* Wherever do you find so many of these clear plastic cubes/racks/stands? They're so ideal for displaying and taking pictures with.
