The Capybara are gorgeous! Yes, they are! ..... and I would die for the Shoebill of this Phat! series. If someone knows how to get one, PLEASE let me know!!! ..... what are they made out of - is it some kind of resin or is it just plastic? When I got the Malay Tapir I thought this must be resin, but now that I have the Capybaras it's obvious that these figures are made of the hardest rubber you can imagine.

So beautiful. Harriet, I imagine from the last picture that they are plastic, though I see what you mean about their looking rather resin-like from the first picture. They remind me a little of Northlight/Wade's animals, which I feel sure you must know of (and probably have a few ;D). Thanks Niroot. Yes I loved North Light and I do have one original sculpture from them I wish I had had enough money to buy a few more before they stopped making them in England. I seem to remember vaguely hearing something about that. What a shame. You may be interested in this website: www.jackies-attic.co.uk/They sell a number of North Light animals, although the range does seem to have dwindled too since I last bought anything there (which was quite a while ago, actually).

Thanks for the link Niroot, I think she also has an eBay shop as I remember the name Jackie's Attic. I was watching a beautiful blue Macaw on eBay, which I really wanted to get, but I stupidly missed it! I was really annoyed with myself.

O I am sure some of us remember the first series of Tomy deep sea fishes (filled shark, oarfish, etc). While browsing jauce.com I came across this second set, which arrived yesterday: In back: Giant cusk eel, coelacanth (in black & brown), short silver hatchetfish In back: Goblin shark (with closed mouth); hadal snailfish, pelican eel I am especially fond of the shark and coelacanth--there is a secret figure of each of those (open-mouth goblin & blue coelacanth) but I didn't want to spend twice as much to get them! Funny thing--there is another set in Japan right now, that also features coelacanths in both colour forms!

I love the elephant. The Gembok calf is hard to find I've heard, congratulations of your collection so far! Thanks hkhollinstone, the collection has great figures. From what I have, my favorite figs are the elephant, black jaguar and adult male gorilla. They are truly masterpieces, in person they are much better than in pictures. And yes, the gemsbok calf is very hard to find ... Other figure from this series that I have in my list are the leaping siberian tiger, the lioness and the adult gemsbok The only one harder is supposed to be the gemsbok adult! Indeed, the adult gemsboks are the holygrail of this set. Nowhere to be found, at least not on EBay worldwide. I read about a japanese seller that had sets available, but he never responded to my emails

The other is searching for the calf. Do you know what the size difference is between the Safari WW African elephant and this vanishing wildlife one?

Do you know what the size difference is between the Safari WW African elephant and this vanishing wildlife one? You can let the latter one know (the one searching for calf), that I could trade my calf for an spare adult ;D (I am serious)... WW Elephant is 11,5" by 10" whereas VW one is 12" by 8,5". In terms of weight, WW is 11,5 ounces and VW goes above 1 pound. I prefer the sculpt in the vanishing wild elephant, it looks more realistic to me; it has a more dynamic pose than the ww one. In more general terms, Vanishing Wild has, for some animals, the best figure of entire Safari product lines, again, this is my personal opinion and it applies to: * Black Jaguar (for me, best jaguar figure of all toy lines -see photo) * African adult elephant * Gemsbok (best of all lines) * Lion cub * Leaping siberian tiger (best of lines) * Adult lioness * Adult Mountain Gorilla * Snow Leopard (Best of all lines)

Here's a link to his two models anyway, so you can see a picture schleichtiersammler.forumieren.de/t844-safari-ltd-vanishing-wild-gemsbok-oryx?highlight=oryx I think I agree with you about the V W elephant being more realistic than the WW one - I have the WW elephant as you've probably seen in the other thread. I'd like to try and get the VW one, but I expect they are expensive?

It is as heavy as a gold lingot.

I once found the VW Giraffe in an antique shop, but the owner wouldn't let me buy it since it had no price tag.

I could facepalm all day long for having not bought the VW Elephant when I had the opportunity about two or three years ago, it wasn't expensive. On the other hand, at that time I bought the Giraffe from a seller, it was the last one he had. Unfortunately the tail was missing its tuft. When I claimed for this the seller gave me a full refund and said I should keep it for free. Right after that I gave it a new tuft made from epoxy: It's a huge figure, 333 mm in height and weighing 625 g.

Oh I love the giraffe! I really want one, this is the first time I've seen this model, it's gorgeous!! Yes, it is a beautiful model, really worth getting. Unfortunately it is a hard find. Many of the online stores (TGF Toys, Healthstones,...) are out of it I could facepalm all day long for having not bought the VW Elephant when I had the opportunity about two or three years ago ... Hey Andre, now you have a new opportunity to have this Elephant... I trade it for your recently painted Bully Deinotherium deal?
