Excellent. I haven't given in to that yet, but I'm being very sorely tested...

I got this little beauty in the mail today! The awesome Papo Steppe Mammoth! Now all that's left are the Cavemen (and Campfire), Wooly Mammoth, and obviously the 2011's, and I'll have the entire Papo Prehistoric Collection!!! ;D

So why did they retire that in favor of a much less dynamic and slightly uglier figure?

So why did they retire that in favor of a much less dynamic and slightly uglier figure? I have no idea, but I couldn't have said it any better myself. And why not keep both? One is a Wooly Mammoth, and the other is a Steppe Mammoth. Just keep both! lol

Wow, impressive! This certainly beats Kaiyodo's IMO. What is this Nature Technicolour?! Is it expensive and/or obscure. It looks expensive, lol. The full sets which includes the limited secret pieces are kinda obscure, but recently Epoch / Kitan Club (The company/manufacturer which released these miniatures) has re-released the entire set and they are pretty common atleast in our country and Japan. There are also a series of straps and magnet animals (with qualities as good as the Nature Technicolor miniatures). The sets cost somewhere between $40~70... The thing I like most about these series is that the production pieces look nearly identical to the prototypes in stock photos (minus the seam lines). It would be nice if they start making some miniature prehistoric animals... Dyscrasia, Thank you so much for this informative post! I truly appreciate it.

So, new stuff... Well, I haven't picked up much recently, but in the last little while I have received some D&D figures that make very good Varanosaurus, Megalictis and some sort of croc figures. Also, just won (and am now waiting on) a REAL/UMA Basilosaurus figure. And the set of EPOCH deep sea creatures. I now have an X-plus Harryhausen Phororhacos (it's been here a while, but it was just fixed--a leg was broken). And finally, the Safari (mostly) Tetrameryx: It will go nicely with my K&MxSafari Chasmaporthetes! Thanks paleoferroequine!

Rooting through bins in charity shops is occasionally worth it. No, I didn't find any Battats or anything spectacular like that - but a nice knockoff of the Carnegie Baryonyx isn't too bad either! It's mounted on a base, which means it stands on two feet without leaning on either tail or hand, and looks to be a pretty exact copy.

Nope. I got the Chasmaporthetes in a trade--then, after sharing some info, got a prey species. For the Tetrameryx, I just had to send extra figures to be used.

Despite people telling me it would be otherwise, I didn't get a single dinosaur toy yesterday. I did, however, get a Spinosaurus tooth.

The tusks of mine are kind of brownish, as if it the tusks were covered with keratin... So we have a change on painting process of the Steppe MAmmoth.
