That can't be true--T rex was a slow, clumsy scavenger man! Didn't you hear what Horner had to say! The onyl large predator on earth at the end of the Cretaceous was...a crocodile? A dromaeosaur? Doesn't matter--the biggest thing with giant teeth was no hunter. ;D ;D Yes T-Rex was a cross between a Vulture and a Hyena! ;D I'm not gonna let you guys get to me, because we all know Tyrannosaurus was an opportunist!! He scavenged if there was meat, but preferred to hunt. This is the same with most large theropods. Now enough bashing of Mr. Rex!

Perhaps this is the issue--T rex is the only large obligate tetrapod scavenger ever known, and it's just so hard for us to envision such a thing because we don't know of it from before T rex, and it has never happened again since ...Ow, my tongue keeps getting stuck in my cheek...

Lets just start up a new fight debate and end the T-Rex argument with this: He was the most powerful hunter that ever lived!!!!!
Fight- giganotosaurus vs spinosaurus. I believe giganotosaurus, being much heavier and larger, would easily kill the lightly built spinosaurid with one powerful bite. Spinosaurs jaws weren't really meant for power, more for snagging fish, so I believe it's safe to assume that he couldn't fight off an attack of something that large....

See the comparison picture for Giganotosaurus on Wikipedia. Spinosaurus was also about 13 ' longer. ;D

Yeah, he might bite one of them, but the image is amusing.

Spinosaurs jaws weren't really meant for power, more for snagging fish, so I believe it's safe to assume that he couldn't fight off an attack of something that large.... Spinosaurus for me, considering that if the latest size estimates were right, could have been 10-15 feet larger than giga, and would probably way the same. How do you know that spinosaurus's jaws were meant for catching fish? Has any fossil of spinosaurus (Not baryonyx) been found with, lets say, scales in it's stomach? If so, could you get me a pic of the fossil as I would be interested in seeing that. How do you know that spinosaurus's jaws weren't meant for power? I believe that no studies of the bite strength of spinosaurus have been done, so for all we know, spino could have had a jaw as powerful as a trex. And how do we know that spinosaurus was was really lightly built? The first specimen from Ernst Stromer was beleived to be a sub-adult, so if that one was thin, I guess the sub-adult thing would explain it. And as for him not being able to fight something off that large: Spinosaurus was a little bit larger than giga. If spino showed giga his side and a full few of his sail, I think that giga and spino would just roar at eachother and then one of them would walk away. *sighs* Rant over. All that was said by the inner spinosaurus fan in me, not the Cordylus you all know and love. Sorry you had to hear that tyrannax. I know it must have been hard on you to see somebody stick up for spinosaurus.

Its ok, T-Rex gets bashed down nowadays. People think that just because he had small arms (not really that small...) he couldn't fight. All in all, Tyrannosaurus looks more like a giant, two legged tank with a massive head. Spinosaurus reminds me of a giant crocodile.... All the major theropods were VERY close in size, so figuring one did pick a fight with the king (hence the name, rex) they would have to get over the site of those 7 inch teeth before making a move. I can't say the same for Spinosaurus, whose teeth were not small, but quite fragile. My uncle is a paleontologist, he taught me a lot of what I know today. He did say however that "It's useless to argue between major predatory theropods because there really isn't any way to know for sure who would win. Different dinosaurs have different advantages and whenever you have two carnivores around the same size, you really have to do a LOT more sesearch before you can just say "Yeah T-Rex is stronger, or Spinosaurus can snap it's neck" - It was somewhat like that lol. Agreed? lol I hate arguing about Spino and Rex. Thanks Spielberg...

Trex gets bashed down these days? trex is still the most popular dinosaur for kids, it is still one of the most studied dinosaurs, well, ever, etc. I think it is spinosaurus who gets bashed a lot, here are some saying from youtube(From god knows who):
"Spino sux"
"Spinosaurus was a stupid pathetic fish eater and he sucks"
"Spinosaurus has waek jaws and his teeth break so rex is better"
I say that more people bash spinosaurus (Or spinosaurids in general) then trex.
But here is a new fight:
Shonisaurus vs. Ceratosaurus

I do confess that Spinosaurus had conical teeth and unlike T-Rex or Giganotosaurus probably only ate small to medium animals inspite of its size. It also lived in a hot desert climate and may have not been warm blooded. Its believed that its sail may have been used to cool it down. If it was cold blooded then it may not have been as active, and had less long term energy.

Shonisaurus? fighting a ceratosaurus? Come on TP, you know that thats pretty awkward. Shoni (can't come on land, therfore safe) Ceratosaurus (Can't fight in water therefore, shonisaurus) Shonisaurus dosen't even look equipped for battle to be honest lol. Kinda like a pot-bellied opthalmosaurus.
Tyrannosaurus versus Allosaurus?
I believe it would be quite close, but Allosaurs size would be his flaw. He's only half the weight of T-Rex and had MUCH weaker jaws. However, his claws would see to it that TRex would not win easily. I do think though, that once Tyrannosaurus got a hold of the Allosaurus it would crush whatever it got a hold of. Allosaurus may have been fast, but according to a recent analysis, T-Rex may have ran at speeds of 20 miles per hour or more just like an Allosaurus. It had hollow bones, and large bird-like legs, so whose to assume he didn't run fast? In any case, we see larger, more adaptable and stronger dinosaurs as time went on. In this case, T-Rex was farther along, therefore evolution made his offense and defense superior then any dinosaurs before it's time.

Youtube is full of ignorant jerks. What's wrong with eating fishes? Unfortunately any comparison between the Rex and the Spino is the product of that stupid JP scene. I don't see why they should be compared at all. Kinda like a pot-bellied opthalmosaurus. Triassic shastasaurids and Jurassic ichthyosaurids are not as closely related as one might think, not to mention that the Shoni measured 20 mts.

;D OK Quetzalcoatlus versus T-Rex. Quetzalcoatlus would win because T-Rex couldn't get his tiny weak arms up to protect his eyes, which would be pecked out leaving him blind and helpless. Then he would just to wait as the T-Rex slowly died. ;D
