List of Cave-Girl Names
Notes: Having been unable to think of a name for a Cave-Girl character I created over the summer I decided to compile a list of as many different Cave-Girl names as I could think of, most of them being taken from movies I have seen though a couple are from comics and one from a TV series.
Only one name, Loana, is repeated since the film which featured this character was originally made in 1940 and then remade in 1966.
It is interesting to note that of the fifteen names, twelve of them feature the letter “A”, while six of them feature two “A”s and ten of them end in an “A.”
As my sister pointed out this heavy use of the letter “A” gives these names a distinctly Hebrew sound.
1. Loana – Carole Landis’s character in One Million B.C. (1940)
2. Sandra – Doris Merrick’s character in Untamed Women (1952)
3. Loana – Raquel Welch’s character in One Million Years B.C. (1966)
4. Sanna – Victoria Vetri’s character in When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth (1970)
5. Tara – Robin Hawon’s character in When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth (1970)
6. Dia – Caroline Munro’s character in At the Earth’s Core (1976)
7. Ajor – Dana Gillespie’s character in The People That Time Forgot (1977)
8. Eev – Marvel Comic Book Character from Devil Dinosaur (1978)
9. Lana – Barbra Bach’s character from Caveman (1981)
10. Tala – Shelley Long’s character from Caveman (1981)
11. Ika – Rae Dawn Chong’s character from The Quest for Fire (1981)
12. Ayla – Daryl Hannah’s character from The Clan of the Cave Bear (1986)
13. Lea – Linda Corwin’s character from A Nymphoid Barbarian in Dinosaur Hell (1990)
14. Evolet – Camilla Belle’s character from 10,000 B.C. (2008)
15. Dawn – Web Comic character from Dawn of Time (2008)
The heavy use of the letter “A”, or the related “E”, seems to be common also in the naming of Jungle-Girl characters. Here is a brief sampling:
* Rima the Bird Girl – From William Hudson’s novel Green Mansions (1904)
* Jane – From Edgar Rice Burroughs’s novel Tarzan of the Apes (1914)
* Sheena, Queen of the Jungle – Fiction House Comic Book Character (1937)
* Shanna the She-Devil – Marvel Comic Book Character (1972)
* Samantha - Evelyn Kraft’s character from The Mighty Peking Man (1977)
* Christa – Shannon Day’s character from Land of the Lost (1991-1992)
* Jana, “Jungle Girl” – Dynamite Comic Book Character (2007)
If anyone has any questions about these characters or the media they appear in feel free to ask I have seen and or read just about all them.
