I have a Battat diplodocus here that seems to be suffering from a very bad case of sun exposure. One side is brown (normal), the other side is grey. s887.photobucket.com/albums/ac72/Seijun/Misc/Diplo/I am looking at three options: 1) Leave him as is, resell 2) Try to repaint one side to match the other, resell 3) Convince someone to repaint him in a totally new color scheme and keep him

Well, I do have one more option.. -Set opposing side in sun -Wait 10 years
But I don't think I have that sort of patience.
What sort of color scheme might be worthy of this piece?

i'd say it's totally up to you, as we all have our own taste. As some like them brightly colored and others more earthly toned.. but if you can't choose etc, i can always send you some pics that i personally like. usually people give me a reference picture and i try my best to paint the figure to correspond the picture's colors. or what i sometimes do is i sketch up my own color designs..

I really don't know what I prefer. There isn't very much variety when it comes to sauropod art, so it's hard for me to picture a diplo in anything but brown and grey. If you have some ideas, I would love to see them. Or if somebody else here has an idea.

Those are cool. I am favoring the color scheme used on the sideshow apatosaurus, but it's missing something. I don't really like the white spot pattern on the back.
A dark greenish-grey topside fading to a buff cream underside, darker banding the length of the body, or maybe cream stripes, something soft and subtle.

Or maybe you can give it to me if you don't want it. ;D

I have a very war-worn Battat Diplo that I intend to repaint one day too. Copper will make a splendid job of yours.

Naroot, Would you be interested in possibly trading diplos? Mine has a lot of wear on the face and on the darker side, but its having one side a totally different color that bugs me.
Copper: How long have you been repainting/painting stuff? Do you have any other examples of your work that are not in your thread?

Do you have any other examples of your work that are not in your thread? i haven't been 'seriously' repainting figures that long, only a bit over a year now. over the years i have randomly repainted some figures but i have no pictures of them. although i've been drawing and painting all my life and studied art and atm studying graphic design. but my opinion is that if you have ANY doubts, don't commission me.

Oh, I was only curious. So far I think you are one of the best, if not the best, repainter I have seen here.

Ah, I think I would like to keep mine, but thank you so much for the offer. I've grown rather attached to it and feel somehow personally responsible in restoring it. ;D Though I do understand how you might prefer repainting one that was more heavily scarred, as mine is. I would have felt less sure if mine had been in your condition too -- though I hasten to add that that doesn't mean you should hesitate in commissioning Copper! There isn't any doubt he'll do something stunning to it. ;D

I think the last one is the best. Conveys the image of high value too.
